REPORT OF THE STUDY TOUR TO Lutawo paradise garden

Purpose: Learning Best Practices in Plant Management and Propagation
1. Introduction
In July 2026, selected learners from Shine View Academy who are entrusted with plant management and environmental stewardship at the school were given an opportunity to visit Lutawo Paradise Gardens. The purpose of the study tour was to expose the learners to practical knowledge and best practices in plant management, tree care, and plant propagation.
The visit provided an important opportunity for learners to connect the knowledge they acquire at school with practical experiences in a real garden environment.
2. Activities and Learning Experiences
The sessions, facilitated by Lutawo Junior, Manager at Lutawo Paradise Gardens, were highly interactive and covered a number of important stages and processes involved in plant management and propagation.
The learners actively participated throughout the sessions. They were able to explain certain plant management processes based on the knowledge they had already acquired at school. They also asked relevant questions and sought guidance on how they could improve the way they manage trees and other plants at school.
The interactive nature of the sessions enabled the learners to deepen their understanding of proper plant care while also gaining practical knowledge that they can apply in their school environment.
3. Importance of Trees and Plants
During the study tour, learners demonstrated a good understanding of the importance of trees and plants to human life and the environment. They highlighted several benefits, including:
- Soil protection and prevention of soil erosion.
- Provision of shade.
- Production of oxygen and improvement of air quality.
- Provision of fruits and other food products.
- Provision of firewood.
- Provision of medicinal products.
- Protection and improvement of the natural environment.
Their ability to identify and explain these benefits demonstrated that the learners are developing a strong appreciation of environmental conservation and responsible plant management.
4. Response from Lutawo Paradise Gardens
The management of Lutawo Paradise Gardens was highly impressed by the learners' level of participation, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. The learners remained engaged throughout the sessions and demonstrated curiosity by asking questions and sharing what they already knew.
Their participation showed that Shine View Academy is making meaningful efforts to develop learners who understand the importance of environmental stewardship and responsible management of natural resources.
5. Recommendation
We encourage the management of Shine View Academy to continue aligning learners with practical environmental activities and opportunities of this nature. Such initiatives are important because they prepare young people to become responsible adults who appreciate, protect, and sustainably manage their environment.
Lutawo Paradise Gardens looks forward to welcoming learners from Shine View Academy every term so that they can continue gaining practical knowledge and skills in plant management, propagation, gardening, and environmental stewardship.
6. Conclusion
The study tour to Lutawo Paradise Gardens was a valuable and enriching learning experience for the selected learners of Shine View Academy. The interactive sessions enabled them to strengthen their understanding of plant management and appreciate the wider importance of trees and plants to human life and the environment.
Lutawo Paradise Gardens commends Shine View Academy for investing in environmental education and encourages the school to continue providing learners with practical opportunities that complement classroom learning.
