In a landmark move aimed at promoting transparency and public participation, the United Party for National Development (UPND) has, for the first time, invited members of the public to take part in its primary adoption process.

Zambians across the country can now dial *2026 # free of charge on any mobile network and vote in an opinion poll for their preferred aspiring candidates for:

• Member of Parliament (MP)
• Mayor
• Council Chairperson

The opinion poll will run for two days and will help inform the ruling party’s final decisions on candidate adoption ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

With new constituencies being contested for the first time following delimitation, and many new names entering the race, the *2026 # platform offers citizens a direct opportunity to have their voices heard.
