10 MISTAKES THAT WILL FINISH YOUR SEMESTER BEFORE IT EVEN STARTS

University isn’t hard because of the work—it’s hard because of the habits you bring with you. Avoid these and you’re already ahead of most people:

📌 Don’t treat university like secondary school
No teacher will beg you to attend or submit work. Freedom without discipline = failure.

📌 Don’t skip lectures because “I’ll get notes”
Those PDFs won’t explain themselves. By mid-semester, you’ll be completely lost.

📌 Don’t wait for test week to start reading
That panic studying? It shows in your results. Small daily effort beats last-minute stress.

📌 Don’t turn your room into your whole world
Hostel life can isolate you fast. Talk to people, build connections—you’ll need them.

📌 Don’t chase every vibe on campus
Parties, hangouts, events… not all are for you. Too much “enjoyment” will cost you your GPA.

📌 Don’t misuse your allowance
That money has to last. If you’re broke halfway through the semester, stress will distract you from everything.

📌 Don’t depend entirely on friends academically
Your friends won’t write your exams for you. Understand your work.

📌 Don’t keep quiet when you’re confused
Lecturers are there for a reason. One question now can save you from failing later.

📌 Don’t destroy your sleep and health
No sleep + bad diet = low energy, poor focus, and weak performance.

📌 Don’t compare yourself to others
Some people act like they’ve figured it out—most are just surviving like you. Focus on your own progress.

⚠️ In Zambia, many students don’t fail because they’re not smart—they fail because they underestimate university life. Don’t be one of them.

BACKGROUND✅

The Zambian Royal Medical University Pharmacy Student Association (ZARMUPHARMSA) was established in January 2022 by a group of dedicated individuals passionate about advancing pharmacy education and practice in Zambia. Key founding members included Mr. Nobu Matamwandi, Mr. Success G. Miti, Mr. Choongo Molomoka, Mr. Sikota Mulikita, Ms. Lukundo Kapembwa, Mr. Tabo Musa, and other unnamed contributors.Recognizing the need for a platform to enhance the academic experience of pharmacy students, promote professional development, and advocate for the profession, the founders established ZARMUPHARMSA. The association aims to be a voice for pharmacy students and foster collaboration with healthcare stakeholders.In its inaugural year, ZARMUPHARMSA formed a strong leadership team under the presidency of Mr. Success G. Miti. The executive committee comprised Mr. Sikota Mulikita as Vice President, Mr. Abraham Sinyange as Secretary General, Ms. Lukundo Kapembwa as Academician, Mr. Tabo Musa as Finance Minister, and Ms. Blessings Ndhlovu as Publicity Secretary.It's important to note that Mr. Abraham Sinyange and Mr. Sikota Mulikita, with administrative support, played a crucial role in affiliating ZARMUPHARMSA with the Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia (PSAZ). Additionally, Mr. Sikota Mulikita drafted the association's constitution, which was subsequently reviewed and amended by the ZARMUPHARMSA executive.The inaugural executive team focused on implementing programs that prioritized academic excellence, community service, and professional development. Their efforts fostered a supportive environment for students and encouraged collaboration within the pharmacy community. As ZARMUPHARMSA continues to grow, it builds upon the foundation laid by its founders and early leadership, striving for excellence in pharmacy education and practice.
