Assalaamu alaykum and Good day Respected Parents & Guardians

Next week we will be celebrating National Book Week and our Readathon, and we would love for EVERY child to feel excited, included and part of the fun! 📖

Our Readathon Spirit Week programme as shown above has something fun planned for each day. We are asking our parents to please come on board and help us make the week extra special. 🙏

There is absolutely no need to spend money! Please use what you have at home, get creative, improvise and have fun putting something together. 🎨👒📚 The most important thing is that our children arrive each day feeling excited and proud to participate. We really don't want any child to feel left out.

Parents, your enthusiasm makes such a difference! Please encourage your child to make an effort to come prepared for each day's theme so that we can celebrate together as one big school team. 🌟

📖 READATHON LIST REMINDER:
Please remember that Readathon lists are also due. We would greatly appreciate it if outstanding amounts could be sent in as soon as possible.

At the heart of this week is something very important to us — building and strengthening the reading culture at our school! We want our children to discover that reading can be exciting, imaginative and FUN! 📚✨

Let's fill our school with books, characters, creativity, laughter and, most importantly, children who are excited to READ! ❤️📖

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatu and Good day Respected Parents, Guardians and friends of DRPS

إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

“Verily from ALLAH do we come and unto Him shall we return” (Surah 2: Verse 156)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs Whittle, our former General Assistant, who played a pivotal role in our school and was a cherished member of the Douglas Road family.

Her love and concern for our learners were selfless and extended far beyond the school gates. While our school community mourns the loss of a truly special individual, many of our learners are also grieving, as they hold their own fond memories of her. We therefore encourage you to provide support and comfort to your child during this difficult time.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Whittle family, the Wynberg community, and our learners.

May the Almighty grant them strength, comfort, and peace as they navigate this challenging period of loss Ameen ameen..

Parents & Guardians, get your angels ready for our PJ and cupcake day tomorrow, Wed, 3 June 2026 ... join in, for much fun as you -->

Slide on your slippers and button your best,
Today is a day for some lounging and rest!
No zippers or buttons or ties to be found,
Just fluffy robes and the comfiest gown.

We’ve swapped out the shoes for a fluffy, warm pair,
And left all the brushes away from our hair.
With blankets and pillows and stories to read,
A day in pajamas is all that we need.

But what makes it perfect?
A sugary sweet!
A frosted, delicious, and colorful treat.
With towering icing and sprinkles on top,
The Cupcake and PJ day never should stop!
So grab a sweet bite while you cozy right in,
Let slumber and frosting and laughter begin!
