🇿🇦 Heritage Day | 24 September

Today we celebrate the rich and diverse heritage that makes South Africa unique. From our languages, cultures and traditions to our stories, food, music and shared history — our heritage is part of who we are.

Heritage Day became an official public holiday in 1995, giving South Africans an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the cultural wealth of our nation. The day also has historical roots in Shaka Day, which was observed in KwaZulu-Natal in honour of King Shaka.

At Somerset High School, we celebrate our differences while embracing what brings us together. May we continue to honour our past, celebrate our present and inspire a future built on unity, respect and Ubuntu. ❤️💙

Different cultures. One South Africa. 🇿🇦

Stay safe, make wise choices, look out for one another and return refreshed and ready for the term ahead.

Have a safe, happy and well-deserved holiday! ❤️💙
