You might’ve noticed I haven’t been showing up here as often.
Lately, I’ve been craving more space — in my schedule, in my mind, and in how I connect online. This platform, while once energizing, has started to feel out of alignment. And as I move through a season of simplifying and decluttering (in business and beyond), it’s clear: I need a break.
So, I’m stepping back.
I’ll still pop in occasionally through stories, but for now, I’m shifting my focus to spaces that feel more intentional.
If you’d like to stay connected, you can:

Here’s to creating space for what truly matters. 🤍

It's time to (re)introduce myself 🤝🏼
Hi, I'm Peggy, born in Belgium, refined in South Africa, and coming alive in Canada. 🇧🇪🇿🇦🇨🇦
I’ve founded, built, and successfully sold four businesses. Some call me a serial entrepreneur, but I prefer business strategist—I see opportunities and go for them.
That’s how I founded A Backyard Hiker, my coaching business where I help entrepreneurs build businesses that align with their values, strengths, and lifestyle. Through my Visionary Women program, I support ambitious women in creating sustainable, purpose-driven businesses, leaving the feeling of being overwhelmed behind.
I thrive on seeing people grow—not just in business but as individuals. To me, entrepreneurship is more than business strategies; it’s about mindset, alignment, and personal growth.
I’m a forever learner, currently diving into my MBA at VIU 🎓, and while I once rolled my eyes at all things woo-woo, I’ve earned the nickname Peggy-WooWoo because, well…turns out I’m a great manifestor. 🌟 If that made you roll your eyes—trust me, I’ve been there!
💛 My morning routine = my sacred me time
💪 Strength training has become a priority (if you know, you know!)
⛷️ Re-discovering my love for skiing and getting lost in the woods
✈️ Fun fact: I once flew airplanes ✈️ & took a year-long bicycle trip 🚴♀️
I love connecting with bold, adventurous minds—so if you’re here, tell me something fun about you!👇

Books make me a bit selfish, what are you reading? 📚
The books I either finished or started reading while enjoying a wonderful relaxing holiday at Madagascar 📚 oh and I’m missing one as I also finished The Night She Disappered by Lisa Jewell! Yep, another page turner 😊
They are all different genres, suggested by totally different people in my life but I liked them all!
I honestly never thought I would be a Nicholas Sparks fan but this was truly the perfect beach read 🏖️
If you have any suggestions for the upcoming 36 hours of traveling when we make the hop across the pond to 🇨🇦, I would love to know 😊Please share in the comments below👇🏼

Every day is a new opportunity to embrace the unexpected and find joy in the little things! 🌞✨
Just like this tiny gecko who decided to join our breakfast table, savoring the moment and enjoying the sweetness (read the honey jar) of life 🦎
It’s about being open to possibilities and allowing ourselves the freedom to explore new ideas. Just like our friend here, let’s be bold, adventurous and ready to lick up every drop of opportunity that comes our way!

🚚✨ Ah, the joys of preparation! Here I am, just 17 days away from my big move to Canada, and I must say, planning is my secret superpower! 🦸♀️ While some may think I've lost my marbles and made an impulsive decision, let me assure you, this has been two years in the making. Yes, two whole years of ticking boxes, checking maps, and pretending to be a Canadian expert while googling “how to survive the winters in British Columbia” at 2 AM! 😂
Every small step is a mini-celebration, and I’ve become quite the expert at throwing confetti whenever I cross another task off my list. Who knew that packing could be a cardio workout? 😅 I’m practically a professional box lifter at this point! But as long as I’ve sorted my Birkenstocks, I feel ready to tackle whatever the West Coast throws my way. 🌲👡
So, fellow adventurers, remember: it’s not just about the destination but the hilarity of the journey! Let’s embrace the chaos, one box at a time. Who’s with me? 🙋♀️

✨ Embracing change is never easy, but it’s often where the magic happens! As I prepare for my big move to a new country, I find myself reflecting on the importance of grounding practices like meditation. 🧘♀️ In a world that can often feel overwhelming, carving out time to connect with myself has been a game changer. It’s not just about finding peace; it's about building resilience and clarity as I step into this new chapter.
There’s a certain beauty in letting go of what no longer serves us and embracing the unknown with open arms. 💪 Every packed bag symbolizes a life lesson, a memory, and the courage to leap into new opportunities.
Remember, transformation often starts with self-care. When we prioritize our mental well-being, we equip ourselves to face challenges head-on, no matter how daunting they may seem.
I'm grateful that my daily meditation practice has become an ingrained habit. Because in times when you need it the most, it is often the thing you would drop the first.
I would love to invite you to reflect on what practices empower you. What helps you stay calm amidst the chaos? Share your thoughts below and let’s inspire each other to cultivate routines that nourish our souls. 🌍💖

Books make me a bit selfish, what are you reading? 📚
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert was one of our recent reads in the Online Book Club!
The funny thing is that I never saw myself as a creative person. That is until I read this book and people started pointing out how unbelievable creative they find me 🤷🏼♀️
And, thanks to my good friend Janine from who pointed out that creativity is more than being able to draw or paint! Thanks for the kind reminder.
According to Google - Creativity: is "The use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness." And yes, that I'm good at 😊
Are you ready to spark your creativity? Then this is a must-read for you!
