🍊 From Orange to Juice: Learning You Can Taste!

Our Blue Group had a wonderfully hands-on learning experience as they made their very own fresh orange juice! 🍊πŸ₯€

From choosing their oranges, to squeezing, pouring and finally enjoying the delicious result, our children were involved in every step of the process.

Activities like this turn everyday experiences into meaningful learning. Our little ones are developing fine motor strength and coordination through squeezing, practising early mathematical concepts as they count, compare and measure, and building language and vocabulary as they talk about the process.

They are also learning about where our food comes from, following a sequence of events and experiencing the wonderful feeling of β€œI did it myself!” πŸ™Œ

And, of course, there is something extra special about enjoying the delicious reward of your own hard work! πŸ˜‹πŸŠ

At St Lizzies, we believe some of the best learning happens when little hands are busy, curious minds are engaged and learning is something you can see, touch, smell, taste and experience. πŸ’›

πŸ“š Library Day at St Lizzies πŸ’›

There is something so special about watching a child choose a book for themselves. Their eyes wander over the covers, they pick up a story that catches their imagination, and suddenly… they have a whole new world to take home. βœ¨πŸ“–

Our Library Days are about so much more than borrowing books. They are about creating a love of reading, and that love is one of the greatest gifts we can give a child.

Reading with children builds vocabulary, strengthens listening and communication skills, develops imagination and creativity, supports early literacy and helps children begin to understand the world around them. But perhaps most importantly, stories create connection. ❀️

When a child takes their chosen book home, it becomes an opportunity to snuggle up, slow down and share a story together as a family. These little moments help children discover that books are not simply something we learn from, they are something we enjoy.

We want our children to grow up knowing that books can make them laugh, take them on adventures, answer their questions, spark their imagination and transport them somewhere completely new. πŸŒˆπŸš€πŸ¦–

Because when we raise children who love books, we give them a lifelong love of learning. πŸ’›

❀️ A Day in the Life of Red Group ❀️

Big school is a milestone, not just for our little ones, but for their families too.

At St Elizabeth's, our Red Group isn't simply a classroom; it's a gentle bridge between home and school.

We understand that our youngest learners are taking their very first steps into independence. That's why every part of their day is thoughtfully planned with love, patience and care. From warm welcomes in the morning to story time, songs, outdoor play, creative activities and quiet moments of reassurance, our teachers create an environment where children feel safe, valued and confident to explore.

We don't expect children to suddenly become "big school" learners overnight.

Instead, we gently guide them as they learn to:
❀️ Build trusting relationships with their teachers.
🌈 Make their very first friendships.
🎨 Explore, discover and learn through play.
🧸 Develop confidence and independence at their own pace.
🌱 Grow emotionally, socially and physically in a nurturing environment.

Every cuddle when it's needed, every word of encouragement and every small achievement is celebrated, because these moments lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

Our goal isn't simply to prepare children for the next class.

It's to help them grow from babies into confident, curious little people who are ready to take each new step in their learning journey with joy, security and a sense of belonging.

Because at St Elizabeth's, every child deserves to feel loved before they are ready to learn. πŸ’›

πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈπŸ‘‘ Pirates & Princesses Day – A St Elizabeth's Tradition! πŸ‘‘πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

Ahoy, mateys! ✨

One of the most magical traditions at St Elizabeth's Pre-Primary School is our annual Pirates & Princesses Day!

Each year, after our Grade R learners have proudly completed learning the letter "P" in our School Readiness Programme, they celebrate with a day filled with imagination, adventure and plenty of smiles.

Whether they're sailing the high seas as brave pirates or stepping into fairy tales as beautiful princesses, our children embrace the joy of learning through play. It's a day that celebrates not only a letter of the alphabet but also creativity, confidence and the wonderful memories made during their Grade R journey.

For many of our families, Pirates & Princesses Day is one of those treasured St Elizabeth's memories that lasts a lifetime. πŸ’›

✨ We'd love to hear from our St Elizabeth's family!

πŸ’›πŸ“š Growing & Learning in Yellow Group πŸ“šπŸ’›

Our Yellow Group learners have been busy engaging in a variety of table top activities - from arts and crafts to play dough and sorting gamesβ€”all designed to build important foundational skills. βœ‚οΈπŸ§©βœ¨

As our children move from Red Group into Yellow Group, we gently begin introducing a more structured learning environment. This includes spending more time working at tables, sitting on chairs, and learning to follow instructions - important steps in preparing them for the next stage of their educational journey.

While this is a big transition, we make sure it remains fun, engaging, and age-appropriate. Through these activities, our learners are developing:
🧠 Focus and concentration
βœ‹ Fine Motor skills
πŸ‘‚ Listening and understanding instructions
🎨 Creativity and problem-solving

We’re so proud of how our Yellow Group is growing in confidence and independence, embracing new routines while still enjoying the joy of learning through play. πŸ’«

🌸 Happy Women’s Day from St Lizzies! 🌸

Today we celebrate the incredible women who nurture, guide, teach, encourage and inspire the little people in our care every single day. πŸ’•

At St Elizabeth’s, we are so incredibly blessed to have a team of women who pour love, patience, kindness and dedication into our school community, often in ways that go unseen, but are felt deeply by our children and families.

From our teachers, to our administration team, and our wonderful support staff, each woman plays a special part in making St Lizzies the warm, caring and joyful place that it is. 🌷

Thank you for the countless little things you do, the hearts you pour into your work, and the difference you make in the lives of our children every day. ❀️

Today, we celebrate you! The women who help our little ones grow, flourish and believe in themselves.

Happy Women’s Day to all the amazing women in our St Lizzies family, and to all the wonderful women who surround and support our children. 🌸✨

Here’s to strong women.
May we know them.
May we be them.
May we raise them. πŸ’•

πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ’™ Our Everyday Heroes! πŸ’™πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ

Today our school was filled with heroes! Not just superheroes, but the everyday heroes who make our communities stronger. From firefighters and nurses to teachers, police officers, doctors, parents and many more, our children proudly celebrated the people who make a difference through kindness, courage and service.

More importantly, our Everyday Heroes Day gave us the opportunity to support St. Martin's Children's Home, helping children in our own community who need love, care and hope.

At St Elizabeth's, we believe that one of the greatest lessons we can teach our children is that even the smallest act of generosity can have a lasting impact. Thank you to all our families for supporting this meaningful cause and for helping us raise children with compassionate hearts.

After all, a hero isn't someone with superpowers... a hero is someone who chooses to help others every single day. ❀️

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Learning Through Movement! 🌈

Our youngest learners in Red Group have been having so much fun outdoors, building important skills through gross motor play! πŸ’›

Using hula hoops, cones and chairs, our little ones practised jumping, balancing, stepping, crawling and moving in different ways as they completed exciting obstacle activities.

While it may look like "just playing", these activities are helping to develop:
✨ Balance and coordination
πŸ’ͺ Strength and muscle development
🧠 Body awareness and spatial understanding
πŸ‘£ Confidence in movement
😊 Listening skills and following instructions

Gross motor development is an essential part of early childhood education, laying the foundation for everyday tasks such as writing, dressing, participating in sports and developing confidence in their growing bodies.

At St Elizabeth's, we believe children learn best when they're active, engaged and having fun. Every jump, hop and giggle is helping them grow stronger, more capable and ready for new adventures! 🌟
