The Katori Jingu Jinkosai (Shikinen Jinkosai) is a major, historic Shinto festival held once every 12 years at the Katori Shrine (香取神宮, Katori Jingū). Over 3,000 participants, including armored warriors and priests, accompany a portable shrine (omikoshi) by boat and land to parade through Sawara and surrounding areas, symbolizing a divine inspection of the region.

Three members of Renbukan dojo traveled to Japan to take part in the festival.

We also had to opportunity to take part in the largest international seminar in the 550 year history of the school, training with over 300 other students from Japan and around the world.
