From Johannesburg, Alison, Michelle, and Karen of Alibelly Troupe unleash a mythic force on stage:
🐍 Hydra: Chaos Unleashed

Inspired by the many-headed serpent of Greek legend, this trio embodies the Hydra—a creature bred to destroy Hercules, whose severed heads regrew with relentless fury.

Their compact formation becomes one beast, pulsing with menace and movement. Serpentine costumes evoke the creature’s primal power, while their choreography channels the Hydra’s symbolism: adversity that multiplies, chaos that resists control, and resilience that refuses to die.

This is not just a dance—it’s a confrontation with myth, a celebration of strength, and a reminder that some forces cannot be silenced.

This extended-format show features three performance sets, offering a rich and immersive experience unlike any other. Audiences will witness performances by the 10 instructors leading workshops at the festival, alongside top fusion bellydance artists from across Southern Africa. It’s more than a show—it’s a celebration of the vibrant fusion bellydance community in South Africa.

In November 2019 I was Hook in 's studio showcase Neverland.
I'm always super honoured to be invited to guest in my dance friends shows. Usually it's more of a show up on the day and perform whatever you want type of thing but was a different type of show. Theatrical Bellydance shows take things to another level of performance. You're not just dancing to your favourite song expressing the feels you feel like expressing. Your performance needs to fit in with the story and your whole time on stage needs to be in character. 😲 As we were guests we only had a few rehearsals with the rest of the cast and the Jolly Roger mini ship, but we aced it! Yay Alibelly. As for my solo...I'm an improviser, none of my solos are choreographed so it's generally a one time only deal. 😂 Of course I wish I'd done some fancier moves and less repetition.
