Our Story
MHS is a cottage school dedicated to excellence in the heart of Risidale. Founded by the Mrs Pat Murray, an educator and principal of many years experience and her daughter, Debbie Murray. Murray House school is a primary school, which allows children to learn at their own pace, following a combination of the Cambridge syllabus and CAPS. Art and crafts are part of the weekly time table,as well as science experiments, nature walks and pottery classes on Fridays. Children are encouraged to read, and a reading laboratory designed by Pat Murray is used for beginner readers. More advanced learners use an imported reading laboratory. Values of respect, kindness, cooperation and responsibility are fostered and encouraged, preparing children for life beyond the classroom.
