💱 What is a Lot in Forex?

A lot in forex is the size of your trade — how much money (volume) you are buying or selling in the market.

📊 Types of Lot Sizes

🟢 Standard Lot
1 Lot = 100,000 units 👉 Big trades (used by experienced traders)

🔵 Mini Lot
0.1 Lot = 10,000 units

🟡 Micro Lot
0.01 Lot = 1,000 units
Best for beginners 🔥

💰 Simple Example
👉 You open a 0.01 lot (micro lot) on EUR/USD
👉 1 pip move ≈ $0.10

👉 You open a 1 lot (standard lot)
👉 1 pip move ≈ $10

💱 What is a Pip in Forex?

A pip stands for “percentage in point” — it’s the smallest price movement in a currency pair.

🔍 Simple Explanation

Most currency pairs move in 4 decimal places

A pip = 0.0001

👉 Example:

If EUR/USD moves from 1.1000 → 1.1001
➡️ That is 1 pip

⚡ Quick Examples

📈 Buy Trade

You buy EUR/USD at 1.1000
Price goes to 1.1010
✅ You made 10 pips

📉 Sell Trade

You sell GBP/USD at 1.2500
Price drops to 1.2485
✅ You made 15 pips

🚨 Special Case (JPY Pairs)

JPY pairs use 2 decimal places
A pip = 0.01

USD/JPY: 110.00 → 110.01 = 1 pip

What it is:

Trading currencies against each other (like EUR/USD).

Quick Example:
👉 You buy EUR/USD at 1.10
👉 Price goes to 1.12 → you profit 📈

💰Bonds

What it is:

You lend money to a government or company, and they pay you interest.

Quick Example:

👉 You buy a government bond for R1,000
👉 They pay you interest every year (e.g. 5%)
👉 After a few years, you get your R1,000 back

📈 Futures

What it is:

A contract to buy or sell something at a fixed price in the future.

Quick Example:

👉 You agree to buy oil at $70 next month
👉 If price goes to $80 → you profit 💰
👉 If price drops to $60 → you lose ❌
