Titan Skills Developers was initiated almost nine years ago by two like-minded women with the passion and purpose to take relevant training to the people of Africa, both urban and rural. Based in Durban this small, vibrant business has trained thousands of unemployed and employed learners across South Africa. Corporate clients have included Mass Discounters, the SPAR group and ADT Security. Titan

Skills has had an excellent working relationship with these as well as other small businesses nationwide, by way of capacity building, providing high quality, substantial learning material and/or implementing learnerships and short course training in major cities as well as rural settings. Titan Skills ensures the highest quality retail and soft skills training being one of the experts in designing and implementation of Recognized Prior Learning (RPL) training in South Africa. RPL helps identify the knowledge and skills a learner may already have against a qualification or part thereof, finding opportunities for learner to identify their learning, having it assessed and formally acknowledged. Clients find their training needs are precisely customized with personal attention to the completion of various projects. Our vision is to develop a world-class private FET institution offering quality services through multi-mode and multi-sites in collaboration with local, provincial, national and international partners.

Dr Cherise Dunn is the co-founder of the Africa Makes 3D Printing for Development ( ) Initiative, a social hybrid organisation increasing capacity and driving economic opportunity for African youth and entrepreneurs to participate in the global 3D printing industry. In December last year, Dr Dunn was recognized by the United States’ Department of State as one of the leaders in 3D printing for development and was nominated for the International Visitor Leadership Program for Women in Entrepreneurship. This year she was named one of the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans and was selected by Cocreate SANL as one of South Africa’s fifty most inspiring women in STEM. Dr Dunn aims to not only increase the involvement of women in 3D printing and additive manufacturing, but to also support the economic opportunity of entrepreneurs to drive growth and social uplifting in African countries.

Get To Know 3D Science Guru Dr. Cherise Dunn

Dr. Cherise Dunn is the vanguard of bringing 3D design to everyday South Africans. A research professional with a decade of experience in skills development and training, Dr. Dunn co-founded Titan Ideas, an education consultancy that works with experienced research, development and training experts and provides innovative entrepreneurship programmes for unemployed youth.


After researching social challenges experienced by African youth, she also co-founded South Africa Makes™, a social enterprise that uses 3D-printing for socio-economic and educational development ( ).

Dr Dunn is passionate about making relevant technology more accessible to disadvantaged communities and aims to encourage entrepreneurship in youth by fostering skills for success in the . “South Africa Makes™ is currently establishing pragmatic satellite 3D4D hubs to democratise manufacturing and create progressive employment, particularly in rural areas.”


Having worked closely with the American Corner Cape Town, Dr. Dunn says that beyond providing a platform for her to develop her business skills and grow her network with like-minded community partners, the American Corner has also provided genuine support and invaluable resources. “[The relationship] has allowed me to further enhance my leadership skills and develop entrepreneurs in a space which is incredibly supportive and becomes a home away from home.”
