Kids Corner Preschool Waterfall

Directions

Kids Corner Preschool Waterfall Kids Corner is a warm, nurturing preschool run by a qualified teacher with 30 years of hands-on experience. Kids Corner has been in operation since 1997.

Our small-group programme for children aged 2–5 years old, ensures each child receives individual attention and care. Lynette Stonham, the owner, has always had a passion for children. Our school offers the "home away from home" experience. As we only take up to 10 children in the 2 - 5 year old age group, we are able to offer that individual attention to your child. Our Children thrive in this environment and it is a pleasure seeing the joy on their little faces when they arrive for school. Contact us for a tour of our little piece of heaven.

The children love playing ‘what’s in the pond?’ We all sing a little song while we put our feet into an imaginary pond and take turns imagining and saying which creatures could be in it. If it’s something predatory or scary we snap our feet out quickly with much laughter and excitement. Today, there were some crafted creatures in the pond. Don’t you love our crocodiles?

You’d swear we were in the middle of summer already with this Durban weather. The heat has been almost unbearable so we’ve taken our play outside into the shade and added plenty of WATER! 💦

Water play is about so much more than keeping cool. It’s one of the simplest and most wonderful ways for little ones to learn through play!

🪣 Early maths: Pouring, filling and emptying containers introduces concepts like volume, capacity, full, empty, more and less.
🤝 Teamwork: Sharing buckets, taking turns and working together to move water encourages cooperation, communication and problem-solving.
✋ Fine motor skills: Scooping, squeezing, pouring and transferring water strengthens little hands and develops hand-eye coordination.
🧠 Curiosity and discovery: What floats? What sinks? How much water will fit in this container? Water play encourages children to experiment, predict and discover.
💙 Sensory development: Feeling, splashing and exploring water provides a wonderful sensory experience that can also encourage calm, focused play.

Some of the most valuable learning happens when children don’t even realise they’re learning and on days like these, a little shade, some water and a whole lot of imagination make for the perfect classroom. 🌿💦

An exciting last day of term 3. We had a little visitor as part of our theme - a spectacled caiman - and enjoyed lots of time outdoors engaging in messy play, sour worm ice excavation and had some delicious break up day treats. 🍫
