A Gathering in the Shallows
The waterways of the Okavango Delta are not only home to the giants.
Sometimes the scene is filled with something a little smaller — and considerably noisier.
A gathering of White-faced Whistling Ducks moves through the shallow water, their distinctive calls giving them the “whistling” part of their name.
It is easy to arrive in Africa looking for elephants, lions and hippos. But spend enough time on safari and you begin to notice how much life exists around them.
Birds in the reeds. Movement across the water. Calls coming from somewhere you cannot quite see.
The Delta rewards you for looking beyond the obvious.
