Teacher Ro would like to remind everyone: Don’t forget to read your Active English books! 📖✨

But why is reading your books so important?

Every time children read, they are building important English skills — often without even realising they’re learning!

📚 Vocabulary – Learning new words and understanding what they mean
🗣️ Language Skills – Seeing how words are used in sentences
🧠 Memory & Comprehension – Remembering and understanding what they read
✏️ Spelling & Writing – Becoming familiar with how English words look
💬 Confidence – The more children read, the more comfortable they become using English

And most importantly, reading regularly helps children turn what they learn in class into something they can use every day. 🌟

So, Teacher Ro’s reminder this Wednesday is simple:

Take your Active English book home, read a little every day, and watch your English grow! 💙📖

Did you know that learning about wool helps children understand where everyday materials come from? 🌿

Our Woolly Sheep theme is a fun way to explore how wool goes from a fluffy sheep to something we can wear and use.

Learning about wool helps children develop:

🔹 Vocabulary – Sheep, wool, fleece, shear and yarn
🔹 Curiosity – Discovering where things come from
🔹 Sequencing – Understanding the journey from sheep to yarn
🔹 Nature awareness – Learning about animals and the world around us

💡 Try this at home:

Find something made from wool and ask:
🐑 “Where did this come from?”
🧶 “What do you think wool feels like?”
👕 “What can we make from wool?”

Learning starts with curiosity — and sometimes all it takes is a fluffy sheep! 💙🐑

Om jouself te ken, begin lank voor ons groot woorde soos identiteit, waardes, sterkpunte en doel verstaan.

Dit begin by die eenvoudige dinge wat ons gelukkig maak. Die plekke waar ons tuis voel. Die dinge waaroor ons ure lank kan praat. Dit waarvan ons droom. Dit wat vir ons belangrik is.

Wanneer kinders leer om hulself te ken, leer hulle ook om hul eie stem te vertrou — om hul sterkpunte raak te sien, hul belangstellings te ontdek en met selfvertroue hul plek in die wêreld in te neem.

Miskien moet ons dus nie altyd vir kinders vra:

🧊✨ Parenting Tip: The Freeze Game Builds Listening and Language Skills ✨🧊

Did you know that playing the Freeze Game helps children develop important early language skills while having fun through movement? 🌟

The Freeze Game is much more than an active play activity. As children listen carefully, follow instructions and respond to spoken cues, they strengthen the communication skills needed for learning, reading and everyday conversations. Combining movement with language keeps children engaged and makes learning memorable.

Learning through the Freeze Game helps children develop:

🔹 Listening skills – Paying close attention to spoken instructions
🔹 Vocabulary – Learning and understanding action words and descriptive language
🔹 Following directions – Listening, processing and responding appropriately
🔹 Self-control – Practising stopping, waiting and responding at the right time
🔹 Confidence in communication – Building independence by understanding and following verbal instructions

These early experiences help children discover that language is active, exciting and part of everyday play.

💡 Try this at home:

Play the Freeze Game together using music or simple action words.

Ask questions and give instructions like:
"Can you hop like a bunny... freeze!"
"Can you stomp like an elephant... freeze!"
"What action were you doing before you froze?"
"Can you think of another animal we can move like?"
"What other action words do you know?"

You can also encourage your child to take turns being the leader, choosing action words and telling everyone when to "freeze". This builds confidence, speaking skills and creativity while making learning fun. 🎵🕺❄️
