๐ Wednesday We Work | A Little Reminder from Teacher Ro
Teacher Ro would like to remind everyone: Donโt forget to read your Active English books! ๐โจ
But why is reading your books so important?
Every time children read, they are building important English skills โ often without even realising theyโre learning!
๐ Vocabulary โ Learning new words and understanding what they mean
๐ฃ๏ธ Language Skills โ Seeing how words are used in sentences
๐ง Memory & Comprehension โ Remembering and understanding what they read
โ๏ธ Spelling & Writing โ Becoming familiar with how English words look
๐ฌ Confidence โ The more children read, the more comfortable they become using English
And most importantly, reading regularly helps children turn what they learn in class into something they can use every day. ๐
So, Teacher Roโs reminder this Wednesday is simple:
Take your Active English book home, read a little every day, and watch your English grow! ๐๐

๐๐งถโจ Parenting Tip: Discover Where Wool Comes From! โจ๐งถ๐
Did you know that learning about wool helps children understand where everyday materials come from? ๐ฟ
Our Woolly Sheep theme is a fun way to explore how wool goes from a fluffy sheep to something we can wear and use.
Learning about wool helps children develop:
๐น Vocabulary โ Sheep, wool, fleece, shear and yarn
๐น Curiosity โ Discovering where things come from
๐น Sequencing โ Understanding the journey from sheep to yarn
๐น Nature awareness โ Learning about animals and the world around us
๐ก Try this at home:
Find something made from wool and ask:
๐ โWhere did this come from?โ
๐งถ โWhat do you think wool feels like?โ
๐ โWhat can we make from wool?โ
Learning starts with curiosity โ and sometimes all it takes is a fluffy sheep! ๐๐

โSkryf drie woorde neer wat jou beskryf.โ

So eenvoudig. So eerlik.
Miskien moet ons eers vra:
โWie is jy vandag?โ ๐
En dit is heeltemal genoeg.

๐ญโจ Wednesday We Work: Sometimes Even Teachers Need to Dress Up! โจ๐ญ
Learning is not only about books and lessonsโit is also about creativity, confidence and creating memorable experiences. ๐
At Active, we believe that teachers are not just educators; they are role models who bring energy, enthusiasm and imagination into the classroom.
Sometimes that means stepping out of the everyday routine, putting on a costume, dressing up and joining learners in the excitement of a special theme or activity! ๐ฉ๐โจ
When teachers participate, they show children that:
๐น Learning can be fun โ Creativity makes lessons more engaging and memorable
๐น Confidence matters โ Taking on a new role encourages self-expression
๐น Imagination has value โ Pretending and exploring help children think creatively
๐น Connections are important โ Shared experiences build stronger relationships
๐น Positive attitudes inspire others โ Enthusiasm creates a joyful learning environment
๐ก A little reminder:
Children learn from what they see. When teachers laugh, participate, dress up and embrace the moment, they show learners that it is okay to be creative, try new things and enjoy the journey.
Behind every costume is a teacher who cares about creating special memories and making learning come alive. ๐
This Wednesday We Work, we celebrate the fun, passion and creativity that happens behind the scenes to make every learning experience unforgettable! ๐

๐งโจ Parenting Tip: The Freeze Game Builds Listening and Language Skills โจ๐ง
Did you know that playing the Freeze Game helps children develop important early language skills while having fun through movement? ๐
The Freeze Game is much more than an active play activity. As children listen carefully, follow instructions and respond to spoken cues, they strengthen the communication skills needed for learning, reading and everyday conversations. Combining movement with language keeps children engaged and makes learning memorable.
Learning through the Freeze Game helps children develop:
๐น Listening skills โ Paying close attention to spoken instructions
๐น Vocabulary โ Learning and understanding action words and descriptive language
๐น Following directions โ Listening, processing and responding appropriately
๐น Self-control โ Practising stopping, waiting and responding at the right time
๐น Confidence in communication โ Building independence by understanding and following verbal instructions
These early experiences help children discover that language is active, exciting and part of everyday play.
๐ก Try this at home:
Play the Freeze Game together using music or simple action words.
Ask questions and give instructions like:
"Can you hop like a bunny... freeze!"
"Can you stomp like an elephant... freeze!"
"What action were you doing before you froze?"
"Can you think of another animal we can move like?"
"What other action words do you know?"
You can also encourage your child to take turns being the leader, choosing action words and telling everyone when to "freeze". This builds confidence, speaking skills and creativity while making learning fun. ๐ต๐บโ๏ธ
When children learn through movement and play, they are not just having funโthey are developing listening skills, vocabulary, self-control and confidence that support success in reading, learning and communication. ๐
Strong language skills today build confident communicators for tomorrow.

๐พโจ Monday Motivation: Finding Joy, Balance and Energy โจ๐พ
Behind every inspiring teacher is a person who also needs time to recharge, stay motivated and find activities that bring joy. ๐
For Teacher Antionette, one of her favourite pastimes is playing padelโa sport that keeps her active, energised and motivated. ๐
Padel is not only about exercise; it teaches many valuable life lessons that connect beautifully with learning:
๐น Perseverance โ Keep trying, even when something feels challenging
๐น Focus and concentration โ Stay present and make thoughtful decisions
๐น Teamwork โ Support and encourage those around you
๐น Confidence โ Celebrate progress and keep improving
๐น Balance โ Make time for both responsibilities and activities that bring happiness
Just like children learn through play, movement and exploration, adults also grow when they make time for activities that inspire and refresh them.
๐ก A Monday reminder:
Find something that motivates you. Whether it is a sport, a hobby, reading, creativity or spending time with loved onesโthese moments help us return with renewed energy and a positive mindset.
When we look after our own wellbeing, we are better able to inspire, encourage and support those around us. โจ
Hereโs to starting the week with passion, positivity and the motivation to keep growing! ๐
