For our little learners, this is especially important.

At just 5 years old, little Anthony participated in two items at the Vereeniging Arts Festival! 🌟

And he had a very special coach by his side — his granny, Teacher Antionette! ❤️

It is never too early to start developing a child’s confidence, communication skills and ability to express themselves. The younger they learn to use their voice, stand up in front of others and believe in themselves, the stronger these skills can grow. 🌱✨

We are incredibly proud of you, Anthony! 🎉

The Vereeniging Arts Festival is currently underway, and we are incredibly proud of all the hard work our Active Drama students have put into preparing for their performances.

Participating in an arts festival is about so much more than receiving a mark or certificate. It gives children the opportunity to develop *confidence, courage, communication skills and self-expression. It teaches them to work hard, face their fears, perform in front of others and believe in themselves.

These are skills that extend far beyond the stage and can help shape their future. ❤️

💪🌟 WEDNESDAY WE WORK! 🌟💪

Hard work, high standards and opportunities to perform can make all the difference in a child’s journey. ❤️

The Vereeniging Arts Festival provides young performers with the opportunity to work towards high standards, receive valuable feedback and gain the confidence that comes from performing in a competitive environment.

For Bontle, that experience has helped prepare her for an incredible achievement at a national competition in Bloemfontein, where she delivered two outstanding pieces in Reading and Poetry. 🇿🇦🌟

Her performances were so exceptional that she was selected to feature in the SALA competition training videos as an educational example for reading and reciting undramatised poetry.

What an achievement! 👏✨

It is a wonderful reminder that the hours spent practising, preparing and performing really do matter. The high standards children are exposed to at events like the Vereeniging Arts Festival help them develop the skills, confidence and discipline they need to take the next step.

Behind every achievement is a child who works hard, a teacher who believes in them, and parents who support and invest in their development. ❤️

🐻🎭✨ Parenting Tip: Make Learning Memorable with Puppets & Humour! ✨🎭😂

Did you know that children are more likely to remember information when learning feels like fun? 💡

Puppets, funny voices, silly characters and a good dose of humour can turn an ordinary lesson into something children see, hear, enjoy — and remember! 🧠✨

At Active English, we love bringing learning to life through playful characters and puppets. A funny puppet can make children laugh while helping them understand and remember new information.

Using puppets and humour helps children develop:

🔹 Memory – Fun and funny moments make information easier to recall

🔹 Vocabulary – Children hear and practise new words in meaningful situations

🔹 Attention – A playful character can capture their focus and keep them engaged

🔹 Confidence – Children often feel more comfortable speaking to a friendly puppet

🔹 Understanding – Stories, actions and humour help turn abstract information into something they can relate to

💡 Try this at home:

When teaching your child something new, give the information a fun character! 🎭

🧸 Let a teddy “ask” the question.

🐸 Give a puppet a silly voice.

Parenting Tip: Make Numbers Part of Everyday Play! 🔢

Did you know that recognising numbers is an important first step towards developing early maths skills?

Our Number Recognition activities make learning numbers fun and meaningful, helping children recognise, name and connect numbers to the world around them.

Learning about numbers helps children develop:

Number Recognition – Identifying and naming numbers with confidence
Counting Skills – Connecting numbers to quantities
Memory – Remembering what different numbers look like
Maths Confidence – Building a positive foundation for future learning

Try this at home:
Look for numbers together wherever you go — on doors, clocks, signs or even in the kitchen!

Ask:
“What number is this?”
“Can you find a number 5?”
“How many apples do we have?”

Learning starts with curiosity — and numbers are everywhere! 🔢✨
