♟️✨ EUREKA CHESS OPEN TOURNAMENT 2026 ✨♟️

What an incredible day of chess, fun and community! 🏆♟️

The Eureka Open Chess Tournament took place on 1 August 2026, with an amazing 149 players taking part! 🎉 It was a fantastic day from start to finish. Congratulations to all the winners and to every player who participated. 🥇🥈🥉 It was a privilege to host you all!

💙 LSEN Chess Tournament – 31 July 2026 💙

We were especially proud to host a separate tournament for learners with special educational needs (LSEN). This year, we reached a new record of 82 players from 5 schools! 🎊👏 What an achievement!

☕🧁 Something for everyone! 🛍️

Our new tuck shop menu was definitely a highlight! 😋 This was complemented by our lovely tea garden and a small gift shop featuring beautiful items made by learners at Eureka School for Physically and Severely Intellectually Disabled Learners. ❤️

🎟️ Raffle Fun! 🎂

The lucky raffle guess was 341! 🎉 And the prize? A delicious cake! 🍰 What a sweet surprise!

💛 OUR CASUAL DAY 2026 LAUNCH! 💛

On 7 August 2026, Eureka School had the privilege of hosting our annual Casual Day Launch Breakfast, where we welcomed some of our most loyal supporters, local businesses and school principals.

It was a wonderful morning filled with emotion, laughter, music and meaningful connections as we officially launched our Casual Day 2026 campaign. Our learners gave our guests an incredibly special welcome, entertaining them with music and dancing as they made their way into the hall. 🎶💃

We were also incredibly honoured to have Koben Hofmeyr as our guest speaker.

Koben’s story is one of courage, faith, perseverance and miracles. His life changed dramatically in 2018, when, at just 15 years old, he broke his neck during a rugby match. Doctors initially told his family that he would be paralysed for life.

Today, Koben walks with leg braces and his trusted crutches, Tjiff and Tjaf, and travels across South Africa sharing his powerful story of grace, hope and miracles. His message touched the hearts of everyone present. 🙏💛

CASUAL DAY 2026 IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

Casual Day has been part of South Africa’s calendar for 32 years. The very first Casual Day was celebrated in September 1994, when everyone wore yellow ribbons. Over the years, the theme has changed, and the yellow ribbons have made way for stickers and even virtual stickers.

The purpose, however, has remained the same: to raise funds for people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

For Eureka School, this project is very close to our hearts. Every year, we bring together school principals, businesses and loyal supporters to officially launch our Casual Day campaign.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the businesses, schools, principals, families and individuals who continue to support Eureka School and Casual Day so faithfully. Your support truly makes a difference! 💛

We are urgently collecting good-quality pre-loved tekkies for our children, giving them the opportunity to participate comfortably, confidently, and proudly. 🌟
