Who are Wings for Life?

Thank you for supporting Wings for Life. Please continue to keep us in your prayers and help us to promote our school to secure funding and sponsorship to support our work and future projects.

Our school was founded 15 years ago as a nursery school for special needs children. In 2008 Wings for Life, School for Special education was founded and we have grown year on year.

We focus on providing education and life skills to children and adults with special needs – especially autism. We currently employ 30 People with 70 learners enrolled and 3 adults as part of our protective workshops.

We work towards providing adults with special needs with a future!

Music is so much more than entertainment – it can be a powerful tool for learning, communication, and emotional well-being, especially for children with autism.

Research has shown that music can help:

🎶 Improve attention and focus
🎶 Encourage communication and self-expression
🎶 Build confidence and self-esteem
🎶 Support social interaction and relationship-building
🎶 Enhance learning and academic development
🎶 Provide comfort and help regulate emotions

For many children, music creates opportunities to connect with the world in ways that words sometimes cannot. Whether it's singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or simply listening to a favourite song, music can bring joy, encourage participation, and help children express themselves in a safe and meaningful way.

At Wings for Life School for Special Education, we celebrate the unique strengths and abilities of every learner and recognise the important role that creative activities like music can play in their development.

💙 To the mothers walking the autism journey 💙

Some days are filled with victories that others may never notice.

Some days require strength that few people truly understand.

While every family's journey is unique, research reminds us of the immense emotional demands often placed on mothers of children with autism. Behind every therapy session, school meeting, sleepless night, and milestone achieved is a parent who continues to show up with unwavering love and dedication.

Today, we want to recognise and celebrate those mothers.

Thank you for the countless ways you advocate, encourage, support, and love your children.

You may not always hear it, but your efforts matter. Your strength matters. And the difference you make in your child's life is immeasurable.

Building our vocabulary

Building vocabulary in children with autism can be challenging because of their unique language and communication difficulties. It’s important to build their vocabulary early because vocabulary knowledge is the foundation of language comprehension.

One of the methods we use here at Wings for Life is the identifying of objects.

We talk about the object, it's name, purpose and usage.

We make learning fun!

At the Wings for Life Bethel Home, we want our children to be respected, accepted and to be motivated. We achieve this by keeping them busy. We identify and develop their talents in a group with other young adults who have the same challenges.

We have provided schooling for children with autism and related syndromes for the past 18 years, but realised that there was a need to develop opportunities for these young adults after leaving school.

We involve them in day-to-day activities such as catering housekeeping, gardening and guest relations as well as functions such as weddings and parties. All their training is done under our loving care and protection.
