Loving others is knowing
Jeremiah spoke on God’s behalf to Shallum, the king of Judah whose farther, Josiah had been one of few righteous rulers Judah would ever know,
Jeremiah 22:16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.
Jeremiah’s question served as an admonition to imitate Josiah’s behaviour,
Jeremiah 22:15 Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?
Josiah knew God because he obeyed God, and Shallum’s departure from the path would not end well for him, he would die in captivity in Babylon.
How do you get to know God? Jesus kept it simple.
1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
What are God’s commandments?
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
We’ve heard this before and read it before, but have you lived it? Its impact is transformative.
You don’t have to conquer the world for Christ or accumulate wealth, power or influence to glorify God, but you do have to love others.
This love is not some warm, fuzzy vibe you send out, it’s a choice you make each day to look out for others best interests and highest good, and you just have to take your best shot.
You may even take some shots in return, but so did Jesus, for Jesus thought it was worth the risk to love us, and this is why you can take that risk today, Amen.

Proud Blasphemers
Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, had sent his armies to conquer Judah and instructed his field commander to Ridicule God, the God of Israel.
Decked in gleaming armour, the commander strutted before the walls of Jerusalem, boasted that none of the gods of any other people had saved them from him, so why did the Jews hope that their God would deliver them? and mocked them,
2 Kings 18:30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
There are many people in the world today like King Sennacherib, they would loudly tell you that there is no God, and even if God does exist, He’s too weak, distant, or uncaring to help you.
King Hezekiah trusted in God and prayed desperately to Him, and reminded God of the Assyrian king’s insults and pleaded with God to take action, and God did,
2 Kings 19:22 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
God is just as powerful today,
Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
If you find yourself in a hopeless predicament, look to God, your situation may be a disaster, but God is able to save you, if you cry out to Him with your whole heart, Amen.

Maligning God’s anointed
Many Kush*tes (Ethiopians) lived in Egypt, and when the Israelites left Egypt, a number of them went with them, one dark-skinned Kush*te beauty caught Moses’ eye, so he took her for a wife, and Aaron and Miriam did not approve.
Numbers 12:1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
This was perhaps because it was Moses’ second non-Hebrew wife, and they publicly criticized him and challenged God’s prophet,
Numbers 12:2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
Their intention was not simply to have equal authority, but to undermine Moses’ authority and take over leadership, God was upset, hence God’s question
Numbers 12:8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
God had already told the Israelites.
Exodus 22:28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
And this command still applies to Christians today, God still cautions.
1 Chronicles 16:22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” And in the New Testament God instructed,
1 Timothy 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
This does not mean you should take loyalty to leaders to an extreme and overlook glaring sins and faults, or be afraid to ask legitimate questions, but you should have a respectful attitude towards those who have oversight in your life.
Before you listen to accusations against leaders, and certainly before you pass them on to others, check throughly to make sure that they’re true, Amen.
