To have beautiful nails, you need more than just to wash your hands! Nail health problems are conditions that affect the appearance, strength, or function of your nails. They can be caused by various factors, such as infections, injuries, diseases, or environmental exposures. Some common nail health problems are:
👉Brittle nails: These are nails that split, crack, or break easily. They can be caused by repeated wetting and drying of the nails, exposure to harsh chemicals, aging, or nutritional deficiencies
👉Soft or weak nails: These are nails that bend or tear easily. They can be caused by overexposure to moisture or chemicals, such as detergents, nail polish removers, or nail treatments. They can also be caused by a lack of vitamins, minerals, or fatty acids in the diet
👉Peeling nails: These are nails that have layers that flake off. They can be caused by external trauma to the nails, such as using them as tools, pressing on them too hard, or removing acrylic nail polish. They can also be caused by soaking the nails too long in water or soap
👉Yellow nails: These are nails that have a yellowish discoloration. They can be caused by fungal infections, nail polish stains, smoking, diabetes, or liver disease
👉White spots: These are small white marks on the nails. They can be caused by minor injuries to the nail matrix (the part of the nail where new cells are produced), such as hitting the nail or biting it. They can also be caused by allergic reactions to nail products or zinc deficiency
👉Ridges: These are vertical or horizontal lines on the nails. They can be caused by aging, trauma, illness, malnutrition, or nail biting. Vertical ridges are usually harmless and normal, while horizontal ridges may indicate a more serious problem, such as an infection, injury, or disease
👉Ingrown toenails: These are nails that grow into the skin around the nail. They can cause pain, swelling, redness, and infection. They can be caused by improper trimming of the nails, wearing tight shoes, injury to the nail, or genetics
👉Onychogryphosis: This is a condition where the nail becomes overgrown and thickened. It can affect one or more nails and usually occurs on the big toe. It can cause pain and difficulty walking. It can be caused by genetics, injury, poor circulation, psoriasis, or fungal infections
👉Nail psoriasis: This is a condition where the nails develop symptoms of psoriasis, a chronic skin disease that causes inflammation and scaling. It can affect one or more nails and cause pitting, discoloration, crumbling, separation from the nail bed, or thickening of the nail
