๐๐ฅ *FRUITS & VEGETABLES IN GRADE R* ๐ฅฆ๐
Over the past two weeks, our little learners have been exploring the colourful world of *fruits and vegetables*! ๐ฑ
We learnt that some fruits and vegetables grow *above the ground*, while others grow *under the ground*, and that plants need *soil, water and sunlight* to grow. ๐๐ง๐ฑ
We also expanded our vocabulary by describing different tastes and textures. We learnt words such as *raw and cooked, crunchy and soft, sweet and bitter* and had lots of fun discussing which fruits and vegetables fitted into each category.
Of course, the best learning happens when little hands get involved! ๐ฅฐ For our Friday Fun Day activities, each child had the opportunity to safely cut and prepare a fruit or vegetable under supervision. Each group then worked together to make their very own fruit salad. ๐๐๐๐
This week, our original plan was to make vegetable soup, but thanks to our electricity outage, that idea did not quite materialise. ๐ We made do with what we had and turned it into a *raw veggie tasting experience* instead! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ซ
And the verdict? *Every single plate was clean!* ๐ Even the vegetables disappeared!
These practical activities are about so much more than food. Our little ones practised *fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, independence, following instructions, teamwork, measuring and sorting*, while also becoming more confident in exploring different foods and textures.
We are so proud of our little chefs! ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ณ๐จ๐ฝโ๐ณโค๏ธ
Sometimes the simplest activities make for the very best learningโฆ and the happiest little tummies! ๐๐ฅฆ๐๐ฅ
