Today, the Grade 12 learners of Makhumbuza High School also visited the Bat Centre to watch and study the prescribed isiZulu drama Ubhuku Lwamanqe. The live theatre performance gave learners a deeper understanding of the play by bringing the characters, themes, and storyline to life. This educational experience will greatly assist our learners as they prepare for their final Grade 12 examinations.

Ubhuku Lwamanqe ngumdlalo wesiZulu ofundisa ngezinto ezibalulekile empilweni njengobulungiswa, ubuqotho, ubuholi, inkohlakalo kanye nemiphumela yezinqumo ezingalungile. Lo mdlalo ukhuthaza abafundi ukuthi bacabange ngokujulile ngezinkinga zomphakathi, babone ukubaluleka kokwenza okulungile, futhi baqonde ukuthi izenzo zomuntu zihlale zinemiphumela. Today, the Grade 12 learners of Makhumbuza High School spent the day at the Bat Centre, where they attended an educational performance and study session based on the prescribed drama My Children! My Africa! by Athol Fugard. The experience gave learners a deeper understanding of the play by bringing its characters, themes, and conflicts to life through live theatre, making their learning more engaging and meaningful.

My Children! My Africa! is a powerful South African drama set during the apartheid era. It explores important themes such as education, equality, hope, youth activism, and the struggle for justice. Through the characters of Mr M, Thami, and Isabel, the play encourages learners to think critically about the value of education, the challenges faced by young people, and the importance of building a better future. We hope this experience will contribute positively to our Grade 12 learners’ preparation for their final examinations.
