A Legacy Beyond Borders: MUT University of Kigali Partnership Opens New Horizons for Student Leaders
Nine student leaders from Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) recently travelled to Rwanda through the University’s partnership with the University of Kigali (UoK), marking their first international experience.
The visit provided an opportunity for the students to engage with fellow student leaders, experience another African higher education environment and broaden their perspectives beyond South Africa’s borders.
The partnership is also part of the lasting legacy of Professor Sibusiso Chalufu, who championed the relationship during his tenure as Interim Dean of Students at MUT. As he begins his next chapter as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, the partnership stands as a reflection of his commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students.
More than an institutional agreement, the MUT–UoK partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration to open doors, expand horizons and prepare student leaders to engage with an increasingly connected world.
