I recently had a conversation with a friend. As we drove pass this great estate home I told him that this home must be worth plus R50 million meaning that on a bond you'd have to be paying R500K pm for it.

He replied to me and said yeah those houses are for us hustlers big dreamers. It would be very difficult for you to get a job that could earn you anything above R500K pm.

My point is some people go to school graduate and become doctors. Some people hustle hard and wait for that breakthrough moment.

The sad thing about a breakthrough in business is that you can never ever be sure when it's coming. It can come in your early 30's it can come in your 40's you just have to be patient.

A breakthrough is when everything eventually falls together. You start living the life you've always dreamed of.

One piece of advice can save you a lifetime mistake

A Guy started following me few months ago, according to him, my post has opened his eye about life and especially business.

We booked an appointment but it's has not been working out, last night I just remembered and ask him to call me.

He explained his business idea and the model for it, after listening to him.

I raised three points, I will discuss one here.

He said they conducted a survey on the interest of people about the business they want to go into, according to him, 95% showed interest, so they now concluded that the business will sell.

I asked him what parameter they used to select the respondent, he couldn't answer,

I asked him who the target market are, he didn't give a clear answer,

I was able to make him see that they survey was wrong. Before conducting a survey, you must first select your sample audience based on specific parameters.

Say buying power, interest, location, etc as it relates to your business.

After the calls, he has to go back to his drawing board,

He wanted me to be part of his team,

Dear Hustler

If you see someone selling something at a "high price" and you know a cheaper place or person selling it, kindly go there in peace without jeopardizing someone's business.

People have different suppliers who charge different prices, people stay far away from factory shops/wholesalers where they stock, some spend a lot of money on transport, advertisement, delivery fees, etc.

So if you think you can get something somewhere at a cheaper price, go there in silent and stop wanting people to lower their prices to suit you.

This here is the most truth you will read all year.

The single most important factor in whether an entrepreneur is successful or not is how rich they were to start with. The richer their parents, the more likely it is the will succeed (or more accurately, the more chances they can take and the more failures they can deal with on their way to success).

This post from Hacker News just puts it perfectly.

Yes, we need more entrepreneurs. And yes, poor unemployed people should try and start businesses instead of waiting for jobs to be created. But it really is not as simple as that.

Part of the privilege of being rich or middle class is to help those less privileged to find ways to contribute to the economy. Find talented young people (or even older talented ones), give them a space to find their groove, provide a safety net so they can make some mistakes, set them free to fly, hold them accountable to repeat that process for others. Do it again. And again. And again.
