Eastcape Midlands TVET College known as EMC came into being on 31 March 2002

This took place with the merger of Uitenhage Technical College, KwaNobuhle Technical College and the satellite campus of Bethelsdorp Technical College in Graaff- Reniet and was officially launched in October 2003. EMC believes in hands on training and equipping students with useful knowledge and skills that would ensure employment in the labour market. The college serves a highly industrialised urban area, part of the Nelson Mandela Metropole as well as the rural western part of the province.

Our WorldSkills Champion is in Johannesburg

Our talented EMC WorldSkills Champion is currently in Johannesburg for an intensive training as she prepares to represent South Africa on the international stage at the WorldSkills International Competition in Shanghai, China, in September 2026. 🇿🇦✈️🇨🇳

She travelled to Johannesburg with her lecturer and mentor, Mr Mhlambiso, who will continue to guide and support her throughout this important stage of her WorldSkills journey.

From EMC to Johannesburg, and soon to Shanghai ,the journey to the world stage continues!

On 19 August 2026, the Eastcape Midlands TVET College (EMC) played a friendly match against Rhodes University on their home court.

It was a great opportunity for our players to showcase their skills, build team spirit and gain valuable experience against a strong university side.

Well done to our EMC netball team for representing the College with pride, commitment and determination!

Women’s Month | Breaking the Silence on GBV

As we commemorate Women’s Month, we are sharing a video originally featured on the Higher Health page, where we shine the spotlight on our SRC President, Chioma, who is using her voice to call on students and communities to break the silence and stand together against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

She calls on students and communities to break the silence and stand together against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Chioma further encourages those experiencing or witnessing GBV to seek support and make use of the services available through Higher Health.
