BABYGYM IS FOR YOUNG BABIES
Did you know that BabyGym 2: Firm Foundations is designed for young babies, starting as early as 6 weeks old?
Why? Because we believe in prevention rather than cure. By mimicking nature's flawless design and supporting a baby to relax, bond, feed well, and move in age-appropriate ways, we nurture a curious baby who loves to explore!
Our goal is to help little ones feel capable and strong, encouraging them to reach out, move, and explore independently.
This means BabyGym optimises the first few "passive" months so that the baby conquers the "active" months.
BabyGym is not a stimulation class, it is a lifestyle!

Note: 6 weeks refers to full-term babies (40 weeks gestation) + 6 weeks.

Growth versus Development: Your Baby’s Brain and Body Working Together
Dr Melodie de Jager and Cozette Laubser explore the connection between babies’ physical growth and their ability to reach developmental milestones.
Neuroscience indicates that babies are born with more brain cells than they will ever use. Depending on the range of a baby’s movements during the first year of life, unused brain cells die off at a rate of 10,000 brain cells per day. The greater the variety of movement, the greater the brain development that takes place. The number of brain cells is not what is most important, what is important is the number of connections between the brain cells.

WHAT IS BABYGYM?
Many people think BabyGym is a weekly stimulation class, while others assume it is therapy. In reality, it is neither.
BabyGym is a short, interactive parent education programme that equips parents with practical knowledge and activities to support a lifestyle of whole-brain and whole-body development.
During the programme, we teach parents what to do and, importantly, why it matters. We also explain the value of repetition and consistent developmental opportunities. However, it is the parents and caregivers at home and school who are in the driving seat of a child's progress, applying these principles over months and years as their child grows and develops.
The programme focuses on developing and strengthening the most fundamental brain wiring that forms the foundation for overall physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Because BabyGym addresses these foundational developmental building blocks, it is exceptionally effective when used alongside other therapeutic interventions.
