Petunias are one of the best-performing seasonal flowers in South Africa because they love sun, warmth, and long flowering periods. With the right care, they can flower beautifully from autumn through spring and into early summer, depending on your region.

Here’s a simple, practical guide for keeping them at their best during their seasonal cycle:

☀️ 1. Light (Most Important Factor)

Petunias are sun lovers.

🌞 Minimum: 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily
Best position: north-facing patios, open beds, balconies
Less sun = fewer flowers and leggy growth

👉 In winter, South African sunlight is perfect for strong flowering—use it.

💧 2. Watering

Petunias like consistent moisture but hate soggy roots.

Water when the top soil feels dry
In pots: usually 2–4 times per week in winter (less in cooler areas)
Avoid overwatering (causes root rot)
