On the 25th of August, we hosted our very first English Lingua, an event targeted specifically at the Intermediate Phase, unlike our English Festival, which is open to the entire school.
The purpose of this event is to foster a love for English among our young learners and to boost their confidence in using the English language. By keeping our Intermediate Phase learners engaged in English activities that they rarely get to participate in outside of school, the event helps groom teams and participants for future competitions. This ensures that, by the time they reach the Senior Phase, they are well-prepared and tough competitors. As they say, “Catch them young.”
The festival included the following activities:
Spelling Bee
Read in a Minute
Unplanned Reading
Quizzes
Debate
Poem Writing and Recitation
Impromptu Speeches
Prepared Speeches
Crossword Puzzles
Team Word Games, in which one team member spells a word, another defines the word, and a third team member uses the word in a sentence.
The event was a great success!
