Belverton Secondary pupil set to jet off to the States | Rising Sun Newspapers Following a 12-week virtual programme where he developed valuable change-making skills and worked on a capstone project, the teenager will now spend four weeks in Houston, Texas, collaborating with global peers on innovative projects and immersing himself in STEM experiences.

Congrats to the Class of 2023, who achieved a 97.3% pass in the 2023 NSC examination. Belverton Secondary School is placed 1st in the Billy Nair Circuit.

Belverton brainiacs hold all the cards | North Coast Courier As one progresses through Mind Blown one can earn the in-game currency, Sparx, which can also be claimed via real life activities such as beach clean-ups and waste audits.

The Advancing Childrens Power in Ethekwini Programme was held at the Tongaat Town Hall. This occasion saw the participation of learners from various schools within the Northern Region being given the opportunity to showcase their presentation and leadership qualities, using various scenarios pertaining to our current dynamic social and academic environments. This process culminated in a democratic election process where the Child Ambassador of the Northern Region Mr Mncedisi Mncadi a grade 9 student of Belverton Secondary School was chosen. Going forth this title will see him being part of many community and youth involvement programmes organised by EThekwini children empowerment group.

The Ethekwini Municipal Libraries of District 1 held their first speech contest at La Lucia Library. A total of 9 participants from the District 1 region paved the way to enlightening guests and judges alike with their valuable information and insights pertaining to libraries in the Digital Era.

Sarah Leigh Gautamah, a grade 9 learner from Belverton Secondary School was placed second in the contest and Andrea Naidoo Grade 9 received a certificate of participation. Congratulations to these amazing young leaders.

The Durban North Hyper Team, PnP School Club and Ushaka Sea world together with micro media publishing gave a wonderful opportunity to our learners at Belverton Secondary to have their literary works published at the Durban International Book Fair held at the Suncoast Dome from the 9- 13 August 2023. The event saw hundreds of learners attending the book fair but 9 Belverton Students stood above the rest in having accomplished an amazing feat in just 24 hours before the close of publication. Students were informed during their July vacation that they should produce poems or stories based on Diversity. The publication team was left gob smacked after 9 students Shiven Govender, Nishalia Reddy, Kynan
Poliah, Nabeela Omar, Natarah Pillay, Kayleigh Moodley Adelyn Subban, Saiantha Naicker and Shivelle
Singarevelooo ranging from grade 9 to grade 12 produced pieces of literature far beyond everyone’s expectations. The Book Club at Belverton has now been reignited with a fuel of passion not only for
literature but also for writing. This turn of events has inspired other students at school to join the club which has now been accounted for at an astounding 75 students 50 of which also had the privilege to attend the fair and experience the beauty of languages and reading among other educational aspects
such as math, visual arts, I.T and life sciences. Our 9 learners have been published in a book called Harambe let’s all pull together and honored with
cash and certificates from the respective organisers. They have been featured as trending learners on social media literary platforms and are fast gaining publicity for their extraordinary works. This is part of an exhilarating start to many more projects to come for our book club and students at Belverton Secondary School. Belverton Secondary was the only public school on the North Coast that attended this event.
