The Foundation joined Mems Ramaila (Founder of BEE African) and the Directorate of Community Engagement of UNIVEN (University Of Venda) to observe Nelson Mandela Day, a celebration for everyone to take action and inspire change in our communities.
We learned so much about the Bee Keeping Industry and it’s importance in sustainable agricultural development.
Bees are the most important group of pollinators, visiting more than 90% of the leading 107 global crop types. In South Africa, over 50 crops are dependent on bee pollination. Bees ensure a reliable and diverse seed and fruit supply through pollination.
We planted 67 Lavender plants at the community farm, which are amazing bee magnets, for our 67 minutes contribution. As we know, Pollinators contribute to food security, bio-diversity and economic growth. We hope to see these plants attract pollinators and contribute to an increase in crop yield!!

Nsfas waits for funds from treasury | Citypress Nsfas has not received its funding allocation from National Treasury for this financial year, and will only be able to release payments for students’ allowances to the tertiary institutions once it receives the funds.
