Research from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development highlights a powerful truth:
When intervention is delayed, it takes four times as long to intervene in the older phase it does in late kindergarten.
One of the most common sentences we hear parents say is, “Let’s wait and see.” While every child develops at their own pace, waiting is not always the wisest option.
If a child is struggling, those struggles rarely disappear on their own. Instead, learning gaps can widen, confidence can diminish, and frustration can replace the joy of learning. By the time intervention finally begins, children often need far more intensive support than they would have needed just a few years earlier.
