Celebrating Our Alumni: Mike Wang.

We are privileged to have had such a brilliant musician as one of our learners. Mike Wang was a Grade 7 learner at our school in 2019 and it is wonderful to see how his talent and dedication have continued to flourish.

Mike is currently a student of Professor Jacob Leuschner at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany.

We wish Mike every success as he continues his musical journey.

Growing Leaders. Building the Future.

August 2026 marks the beginning of an exciting two-year journey in leadership development at Hendrik Louw Primary School.

The school is proud to launch its Emerging Leaders Forum, an initiative conceptualised and developed by our Principal, Mr Jacques Horne, who has designed the programme, created all the learning material and will personally facilitate and present the course throughout the two-year journey.

The Forum brings together 17 committed emerging leaders from our staff, providing them with a dedicated platform to grow, learn and prepare for future leadership responsibilities.

At the heart of the programme is the school’s commitment to invest in people and to build leadership capacity from within. Through the course, participants will deepen their understanding of leadership, develop practical leadership skills, challenge their thinking, reflect on their own leadership journey and grow in confidence.

Most importantly, the programme is grounded in the belief that leadership is not simply about holding a position. True leadership is about influence, responsibility, service and integrity and about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Over the next two years, these 17 emerging leaders will learn, engage, reflect, challenge and grow together, building the knowledge, character and skills needed to make a positive contribution to our school and its future.

We are excited to begin this journey and proud of our 17 emerging leaders for choosing to invest in themselves, in one another and in the future of Hendrik Louw Primary School.

The leaders we develop today will help shape the school we become tomorrow.

MATHEMATICS STARS

We received the wonderful news that three of our learners have been invited to the Horizon Maths Competition prize-giving ceremony in Cape Town today.

Following two rounds of the competition, James Hendricks, William Cass and Liam van Rooyen are among the top performers in the Western Cape region.

Congratulations, James, William and Liam! A fantastic achievement. 🌟

Christie had a heartfelt conversation with Vincent Kruger and Franci de Jager about a story that is deeply rooted in friendship, memories and a lasting legacy — Waar’s Windpomp Charlie.

Vincent, who was Krynauw Serdyn’s best friend, shared the inspiration behind creating this powerful stage production and why, almost 10 years after Krynauw’s tragic passing, he felt the time was right to bring their story to life.

Franci de Jager, who also knew Vincent and Krynauw from their childhood days at Hendrik Louw Primary, shared more about Krynauw — a young boy whose love for nature, adventurous spirit and kindness left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Krynauw’s life was tragically cut short at just 12 years old in 2016, but his legacy continues to live on through the community and the many people who continue to honour his memory. 🌱

Through Waar’s Windpomp Charlie, Vincent shares a deeply personal journey of friendship, loss, healing and remembering the special moments that made Krynauw who he was.
