From 8 - 12 June 2026, Marlo van Wyk, Administrator for Marketing and Communication at Stellenbosch University International, participated in the 2026 International Week hosted by Hochschule Koblenz at the RheinAhrCampus in Remagen, Germany. The week focused on staff and student internationalisation, bringing together both academic and administrative higher education professionals from Albania, Canada, India, Italy, Tรผrkiye and South Africa to share best practices and foster global networks.
A key highlight of the programme was International Day held on 10 June. During this event, Marlo participated in a dedicated study abroad fair, engaging directly with prospective students to provide information regarding study abroad opportunities at Stellenbosch University.
Under the theme "Internationalise Yourself", the programme further featured workshops centered on project management from a global perspective. These sessions integrated participating staff with student classroom environments, facilitating a direct exchange of insights on the necessity of internationalisation strategies and the application of global project coordination principles.
"Participating in this international week has significantly expanded my intercultural repertoire," Marlo noted. "Engaging with diverse perspectives reinforces the immense value of global exchange, demonstrating how vital intercultural competence is for driving meaningful collaboration in higher education."

Walk past the international office today and you can feel it โ the deep winter hibernation is slowly setting in as the student body crosses the halfway mark of the exam season. The frantic energy of the last few weeks is gently shifting into a quieter, more focused hum.
For our current international student cohort, this means they are experiencing the final chapter of the first semester at SU: pushing through the final stretch of academics while witnessing the beautiful, crisp start of a true Stellenbosch winter.
To everyone diving back into the books for the second half: youโve got this! Keep your focus sharp, your coffee warm, and remember that the finish line is well within sight.
