Yesterday was World Read Aloud Day 📖 and I had the absolute pleasure of reading at the Jamestown Library to a local class.

Together we climbed imaginary mountains, brushed a lion’s teeth, and danced like different animals - proof that stories truly come alive when they’re read aloud 🤍

It truly warms my heart to see a big smile on a child’s face, knowing that a small seed might be planted — one that grows awareness and kindness.

Some Exciting News to Share!

Recently, I was invited to the re-opening of our neighbourhood library. When I arrived, I quickly realized that everyone else there was a librarian or connected to the libraries — and I was honestly a bit confused about why I had been included! 😅

Because of the amazing work the library does for our community, I felt led to donate two copies of Finding Kindness. To my surprise, they mentioned me in their thank-you speech, and afterwards a few people came up to me saying they would love to see my book in public libraries.

Over the next few weeks, I was connected with the team responsible for selecting books for Western Cape Libraries, who then put me in contact with a publishing house willing to submit my book under their name.

Yesterday, I officially handed in my book! On Monday, it will be presented to a panel of librarians who will decide whether it will be added to libraries across the Western Cape.

🙏 Please pray with me that the book will be well received and find its way into the hands of children who need its message the most.

Yesterday was the long-awaited re-opening of our neighborhood library after its much-needed renovations. As one of the regular patrons (my two girls and I take out stacks of books every month!), I was invited to attend the special event.

When I arrived, I felt prompted to donate a copy of my book Finding Kindness to the library — a small way to give back to the place that gives so much to our children. My hope is that its message of kindness will reach families who may not have the resources to buy a book of their own.

I pray that it finds its way into the hands of children and parents who need it most. 💛📚✨

Looking back at my book readings at schools and Oude Leeskamer, I saw eyes light up and little hearts grow as they discovered that kindness isn’t weakness — it’s strength.

That’s why I wrote Finding Kindness — a story that helps children understand and practice kindness in a world that often teaches the opposite.
