In this episode, we are in conversation with STIAS Fellow Sandra Soo-Jin Lee, who is the Chief of the Division of Ethics and Professor of Medical Humanities and Ethics at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she researches and writes on the ethics of genomics and emerging biotechnologies, the role of race in biomedical research, and how societies govern scientific practice.

Welcome to the 2026 STIAS Second Semester Fellowship Programme 14/07/2026

STIAS is delighted to welcome the second-semester cohort of 2026.

The cohort of 29 includes mid-career and senior researchers in mathematics, law, biochemistry, psychology, engineering, languages and medicine.

Representing geographies across the globe, including the USA, Sweden, India, Australia, South Africa, Cameroon and Ghana, the cohort joins a growing community of STIAS Fellows, now around 900.

Episode 3 🎙️🎥Out Now.

We are in conversation with sculptors, Rose Namubiru Kirumira and Kobus la Grange, who transformed one of the pine trees that made way for the STIAS Wallenberg Research Centre extension building, into a symbol of knowledge, stewardship and renewal.

Kirumira is a visual artist from Uganda specialising in sculpture. She is a Research Fellow at the Visual Arts Department at Stellenbosch University and a Trustee of the Stellenbosch Outdoor Sculpture Trust.

La Grange is a figurative sculptor whose work focuses on the human condition, expressing a deep curiosity into the narratives of the body.
