Congratulations to PRG Old Boy Christian Sadie (PRG 2015) on setting a new African Record of 28.45 in the Men’s 50m Freestyle S7 heats, securing his place in the final at the Commonwealth Games.

🥉 Another Commonwealth Games Medal for Ruard van Renen! 🇿🇦🏊♂️
The PRG OBU is incredibly proud to congratulate Ruard van Renen (PRG 2021) on winning his second medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Ruard produced another outstanding performance to claim bronze in the men’s 50m backstroke in a superb time of 24.51 seconds, finishing on the podium alongside fellow South African Pieter Coetze, who claimed gold in a Games record time.
This medal adds to Ruard’s growing collection after already helping Team South Africa to bronze in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay, making it two Commonwealth Games medals in Glasgow.
Your dedication, perseverance and world-class performances continue to inspire the entire Paul Roos community. Congratulations, Ruard – we are immensely proud of you and look forward to seeing what comes next!

Ruard Van Renen van Renen (PRG 2021) has made a superb start to his Commonwealth Games campaign! 🇿🇦🏊♂️
He qualified 2nd fastest for the men’s 50m backstroke final, clocking 24.78 in the heats before improving to 24.56 in the semi-finals.
Ruard has also already claimed a Commonwealth Games bronze medal as part of South Africa’s men’s 4×100m freestyle relay team, producing an outstanding 48.34 split to help Team SA finish on the podium.
Congratulations, Ruard! The whole Paul Roos Gymnasium community is incredibly proud of your achievements. We wish you all the best for the 50m backstroke final – go make us proud!
