What can happen when groundwater is overlooked during project planning?

โ€ข Slopes become unstable as saturated soils lose shear strength.
โ€ข Foundations experience movement as reactive soils repeatedly wet and dry.
โ€ข Excavations flood, delaying construction and increasing costs.
โ€ข Structures require ongoing maintenance that better site investigation could have helped prevent.

In the field with ๐‡๐š๐ซ๐๐ฒ ๐‹๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ , Engineering Geologist at GEOSS.

Hardy's work spans geotechnical investigations, groundwater exploration, geological mapping, and geophysical surveys. Fieldwork that turns subsurface uncertainty into a basis for sound engineering designs.

Here, Hardy and his team are conducting a comprehensive site investigation for a new development. His hands on work includes logging soil profiles in excavated test pits, performing Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests to evaluate subsurface soil consistencies, collecting soil samples to accurately characterise the subsurface, identify problem soils, inform shallow groundwater conditions, and determine safe bearing capacities and anticipated settlements.

'Whether we are testing the physical strength of the ground to support a foundation or sampling the soil to ensure environmental safety, fieldwork is about uncovering the ground truth so our clients can build with confidence.'

It is this rigorous, hands-on groundwork that transforms unknown ground conditions into reliable engineering solutions.
