Boland College Principal, Mr Charles Goodwin, with members of management, met with Mr Steve Reed from the National Business Initiative (NBI) to explore opportunities to strengthen the partnership between the two organisations and grow entrepreneurship at the College.

The engagement focused on strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems and identifying opportunities for collaboration that can create meaningful pathways for young people.

Mr Reed emphasised that TVET colleges are at the heart of the NBI’s Installation, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) programme. As key delivery partners, colleges play a critical role in creating and unlocking pathways for young people. He described the engagement with Boland College as both strategic and necessary in strengthening these opportunities.

Engagements such as these are an important step towards building meaningful partnerships that connect education, entrepreneurship and the world of work, while creating greater opportunities for our students and the communities we serve.

CAMPUS NEWS | STELLENBOSCH CAMPUS

Speaking up. Speaking out. Making a difference.

As part of Women's Month and TVET Month, Boland College Stellenbosch Campus SSDS and SRC hosted a GBV Awareness Information Session today for female staff as well as N6 and Level 4 female students.

Led by SAPS Stellenbosch Sergeant September, District Coordinator for Domestic Violence, and Mrs Danielle Abrahams from the Thutuzela Centre in Stellenbosch, the session focused on equipping staff and students with important information about GBV, support services, and how to respond when someone reaches out for help.

Particular emphasis was placed on our N6 and Level 4 students who will soon leave Boland College and enter the workplace. Ensuring that they are informed, empowered, and able to recognise and speak out against gender-based violence is an important part of preparing them for life beyond college.

The message was clear: SPEAK UP. SPEAK OUT. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO DO SO.

We encourage everyone to share the message within their own circles and help create a culture where survivors feel supported, heard, and empowered to seek help.

TVET Month | TVET Colleges create entrepreneurs and job creators.

The future of work is not only about finding employment; it is also about creating opportunities.

Through initiatives such as the College Entrepreneurship Development Programme, TVET students are encouraged to think beyond the classroom, identify opportunities and turn their skills and ideas into businesses with real potential.

Entrepreneurship equips students to become innovators, problem-solvers and job creators. By combining practical skills with an entrepreneurial mindset, graduates can create sustainable livelihoods, respond to needs within their communities and contribute to growing local economies.

At Boland College, we want our students to see their skills not only as a pathway into the workplace, but also as a foundation from which they can build something of their own.

While one Boland College team was getting applications moving in De Doorns today, another was making sure future students in Klapmuts had the guidance they need to make the right choices.

Mr David Benadie, our Recruiter and Mrs Ilze le Roux, our Senior Student Support Officer, were out and about in the Klapmuts community, assisting prospective students with career development, programme choices and applications for the 2027 academic year.

Because applying is one thing, but knowing what to apply for and where your strengths, interests and future goals can take you is just as important.

For some, today was about submitting an application. For others, it was about asking questions, exploring different career paths and discovering opportunities they may not have considered before.
