September brings us the Spring Equinox!

The equinox happens when the Sun is directly above Earth’s equator. This means that the Northern and Southern Hemispheres receive almost equal amounts of sunlight, making day and night nearly the same length.

In the Southern Hemisphere, it also marks the start of astronomical spring.

Pretty amazing that the tilt of the Earth and its movement around the Sun help determine our seasons!

Plants can sense the changing seasons! Plants don't have calendars, but they can detect changes in day and night length.

As the seasons change, these changes in light and darkness can tell plants when it's time to grow, flower, or prepare for the next season. This response is called photoperiodism.

We’re looking for a Mathematics Tutor to join the Abakus Enrichment team in 2027!

We’re looking for someone with a strong Mathematics background and experience working with learners. If you have the subject knowledge, tutoring experience, and passion to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you!

📍 Stellenbosch, Western Cape
📚 Grades 8–12
🕐 24 hours per week
💙 Existing client base with room to grow
💰 R20 000+ per month | 12-month salary

Qualified teachers, qualifying teachers, Mathematics graduates, and experienced tutors are all encouraged to apply.
