Bergzicht Training Center is a non-profit organisation situated in the heart of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Our mission is to inspire and empower disadvantaged people with little or no formal education by equipping them with the necessary skills that they need to uplift themselves from impoverished circumstances. Our aim is to assist them in creating a stable foundation that will make it possible for them to reach their full potential and experience lives of stability.

My name is Nosiphiwo Dastile.

I am standing here today with a grateful heart. Last year in 2025, I stood on this same stage for my training. I was learning, I was hoping, I did not know what tomorrow would bring. But by the end of August, and on the 21st of September 2025, God opened a door for me and I started my job.

Today I want to say a big THANK YOU.

Thank you to my facilitators, thank you to my trainers, thank you to everyone who taught me, supported me, and believed in me. This training changed my life. It gave me skills, it gave me confidence, and it gave me a future.

I will never forget where I come from.

I promise to work hard, to be respectful, and to make you proud. And I promise to help the next person who is coming after me, just like you helped me.

Letโ€™s build greater awareness, foster understanding, and lead with patience, compassion and kindness โ€” for those living with Alzheimerโ€™s and for the families and caregivers walking alongside them.

In honor of Tourism Month, we proudly celebrated the graduation of our Professional Hospitality Skills Programme students on Friday 11th September 2026.

Generously funded by Visit Stellenbosch, the programme equipped 13 students with theory, practical skills and valuable Work-Integrated Learning experience at local guest houses.

From the classroom to real-world hospitality, they showed commitment, embraced every opportunity and grew along the way.

Today, we celebrate their hard work, their achievement and the bright futures they are building. โœจ

My name is Mynlia De Wee, I am 45 years of age and a proud single mother of a 13-year-old handsome son.

I started my training as an aspiring humble carer at Bergzicht in May 2025. It was a journey full of growth, lessons learned as well as personal development. When I started, I immediately knew that my passion to help those in need was overwhelming. The course at Bergzicht gave me the knowledge and skills to provide care for the elderly and those individuals with special needs. Iโ€™ve also learned the importance of empathy, communication and patient care.

My practical experience was priceless to say the least. Iโ€™ve had the opportunity to work at facilities where I could practice what I was taught. Yes, it came with challenges but the feeling of making and being able to make a difference in someoneโ€™s life is so rewarding.

Iโ€™m forever grateful for the support of my facilitators and classmates; they played an important and positive role in my growing and developing into a competent and confident carer.

As I look back now, Iโ€™m so proud of myself and my accomplishments. I know that my journey at Bergzicht paved the way ahead for me to make a positive impact in the life of others.

Iโ€™m excited to further my career as a frail carer, to prosper and to grow further in this field. Thus saying, I want to become the best version of myself and make a difference!
