Holding a PhD focused on religious interventions for gender-based violence (GBV). She leverages vast cross-sectional experience across diverse world religions and Christian denominations to address the root faith dimensions of intimate partner abuse. Her work bridges theory and praxis, promoting the African philosophy of Ubuntu to restore humanity to both GBV survivors and perpetrators.

Administered by the Rhodes Trust, this scholarship programme covers all university tuition fees, an annual living stipend, return air travel, and health insurance. The scholarship covers any full-time postgraduate course offered by the University of Oxford.

Happy Africa Day!

Today we celebrate the diversity, creativity, resilience and intellectual contributions of the African continent and its people. Africa Day reminds us of the importance of solidarity, dialogue and the ongoing work towards justice and shared progress.

To mark the occasion, Stellenbosch University is proud to host its 8th Annual Africa Day Lecture featuring Dr Panashe Chigumadzi, historian, author and Assistant Professor of African History at Brandeis University.

Her lecture, titled Zinyane Lemvubu (The Hippo’s Calf): Reclaiming Radical Ubuntu, Pan-African Reparations Jurisprudence, and the Struggle for Black Sovereignty, will explore critical conversations on reparative justice, Black sovereignty and Pan-African thought.

The event includes a facilitated dialogue with Prof Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela.
