Meet Thabani Mabuza, an A-Level Top Achiever from Phofs Academy Class of 2023, and an Actuarial aspirant.

Thabani is part of our first cohort of students who completed our accelerated A-Level program (taken in 1 - 1.5 years), and he succeeded! He took four Advanced-Level subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Economics) and performed well in each of them. His highest score was in Mathematics (86%), which is a crucial subject for Actuarial Science, his ideal university program! He got admission offers from Stellenbosch University (SU) and the University of Cape Town (UCT), to pursue his ideal academic program.

We are very proud of him and wish him all the best in his academic endeavours at university!

Studying in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, New Zealand, Hong Kong & China: Admissions Requirements for bachelor’s degree Studies for International Students holding the following Cambridge Qualifications; COSC, O-Level, GCSE ( IGCSE, and localized qualifications e.g. LGCSE, BGCSE, EGCSE, etc.,), and AS & A Levels

🔵USA

Universities and colleges across the USA, including all Ivy League universities, welcome students with Cambridge qualifications. Colleges and universities generally require a minimum of AS or A Levels for admission, but some colleges and universities will accept GCSEs and O Levels as meeting entry requirements. Some institutions and credential evaluators consider GCSE or O Level qualifications with 5 passes at Grade C or higher to be equivalent to USA high school diploma. Depending on the university and degree selected, students holding three good Cambridge International A-Levels in carefully chosen subjects may find that they can receive up to a full year’s credit (30 semester hours). Many institutions may also award college credit for individual subjects.

🔵UK

Colleges and universities generally require a minimum of AS or A Levels for admission. The minimum requirement for most universities is 3 A - Level subjects passed with A-E. Some universities accept the combination of AS and A level subjects.

🔵Australia

Typical Australian university entrance requirements are two to three A Level passes at minimum grade C or above, although some courses may have lower entry requirements. Competitive courses require three A Levels with good grades (ABB or above). For some universities, two AS Level subjects can be counted in place of one A Level subject.

🔵Canada

Canadian Universities entrance requirements are least four AS Levels or two A Levels. A level may qualify you for advanced standing credit. Colleges may accept GCSE/O Level as meeting entry requirements.

🔵India

Minimum two or three passes at A Level has been equated with Grade 12 of an Indian exam board by the Indian Association of Universities (IAU). For competitive courses like Medicine, a minimum of 3 passes at A level and a pass in English at AS level are required.

🔵Singapore

At least a good pass in three A Level subjects is required. The university entrance to the autonomous universities is highly competitive as places are extremely limited, and many applicants submit good passes for four or more A Level subjects for the universities’ consideration.

🔵New Zealand

Minimum requirements for applications are often three A Level passes and AS Level English pass.

🔵Hong Kong

Cambridge qualifications are well known by universities in Hong Kong. Minimum requirements for applications are often three A Level passes or two A Level plus two AS Level passes (Grade E and above). Some universities may accept five or six GCSE/O level grades as equivalent to one A Level or two AS Level results. A Levels may be awarded advanced credit at most universities.

🔵China

In mainland China, universities offering English-taught programmes accept two to three A Level subjects with different subjects specified. In some universities, two AS Levels or three GCSEs could be seen as equivalent to one A Level.

🔹🔹🔹Additional requirements: For some universities, you may also need to present standardized testing scores– either SAT or ACT – are required. In the case where all programmes are delivered in English, most Universities will also require proof of English language ability, depending on the courses applied for: IELTS/TOEFL is often required but some universities accept GCSE/O-level English Language or English Literature as proof of English language ability. Some universities may additionally require essays, recommendations, a list of extracurricular activities, or portfolios.

✅𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙔𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙁𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝘼 𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢: This program is available to those who have exceptional IGCSE/LGCSE/BGCSE/SGCSE/O-Level results – A*s, As, & Bs in 5 or more subjects.
