“BEST” is a very big claim and honestly, anyone can make it.
So instead of telling you that PAUSE is the best floral workshop in South Africa, we’d rather show you exactly what we offer and let you decide for yourself. 😉
Three intensive days. A maximum of 16 students. Two working florist-besties pouring their hearts, souls and everything they know into sharing the beautiful, practical and occasionally painful lessons it took us years to learn.

And if you’ve attended PAUSE before, perhaps you can answer this better than we can: what made the experience special for you and what stayed with you long after the flowers had faded? Tell us in the comments. ♥️

Three years of capturing every stem, every laugh, every learning moment. 📸💛 Ammi Delicate Photo & Film | Cape Winelands isn’t just our workshop photographer, she’s part of the Pause family. Her eye, her instincts, her way of finding the beauty in everything (even when we’re elbow-deep in leaves and mechanics) - that’s the magic behind every image you see from our workshops.

Ammi, we love you. Thank you for seeing us, for getting us, and for being part of this wild floral ride.

We still have seats available for our last Pause for the year!

Try this the next time you look at a floral arrangement:

- Squint at it.
- When the individual flowers become blurry, can you still see a strong shape?
- Does your eye move through the design?
- Does it feel balanced?
- Is there space for certain flowers to shine?

If the answer is yes, the design is doing the work.
If not, the ingredients may be carrying it.

Learning floristry isn’t only about learning the names of flowers or where to place each stem. It’s about training your eye to recognise why something works and knowing what to change when it doesn’t.

Which of these principles do you find the most difficult?
