Cutting-edge climate change curriculum enters phase two.
The SARUA - Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA) Climate Change Steering Group recently endorsed the finalised version of a climate change and sustainable development curriculum and digital ecosystem, which SARUA revised and which will be updated, under phase two, in 2023.
The curriculum was finalised by a high-level climate change curriculum development group of climate change experts across the Southern African Development Community (SADC), who had been working with SARUA during the curriculum revision and updating processes.

WEBINAR INVITE: COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE: INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE (IQA) IN THE SADC
On the 3rd of November 2022 SARUA hosted a webinar where the report on the: State of play of IQA in the SADC was discussed and it was agreed that a community of practice (CoP) for internal quality assurance (IQA) would be established. It was also agreed that the first webinar meeting of the CoP would be held on the 22nd of November 2022.
The topic for the CoP’s first webinar is: Successful approaches to establish an institutional quality culture and will be facilitated by Prof. Mark Hay.
As discussed previously, the CoP requires active participation from QA practitioners in the SADC. Therefore, we invite you to complete the Expression of interest form if you are interested in making a presentation at the webinar to share your own practices and experiences in establishing and promoting an institutional quality culture. The closing date for the submission of the Expression of interest form is the 11th of November. This will allow us sufficient time to contact the relevant presenters and to finalise the webinar programme.

WORLD RESOURCES INSTITUTE: The State of Climate Action 2022 provides a comprehensive assessment of the global gap in climate action across the world’s highest-emitting systems, highlighting where recent progress made in reducing GHG emissions, scaling up carbon removal, and increasing climate finance must accelerate over the next decade to keep the Paris Agreement’s goal to limit warming to 1.5°C within reach.
The report indicates worrisome trends pointing to the global nations’ inability to keep the 1.5°C temperature limit within reach.
