Teen ma*****na use is on the rise - and it does not always look the way parents expect.
For many teenagers, ma*****na is no longer only something that is smoked. It can also be consumed through vapes, which can make use easier to hide and harder for parents to recognise.
You may notice changes before you know what is causing them: more secrecy, mood shifts, less motivation, new peer groups, or a growing distance at home.
That does not mean every withdrawn teenager is using ma*****na. But it does mean parents should stay aware, calm and connected.
Try starting with:
“I love you and I always will! I’ve noticed some changes, and I want to understand what’s going on.”
The goal is not panic.
The goal is honest conversation before things go further.

A lot of people are functioning.
Going to work.
Answering messages.
Looking “fine.”
But underneath that, many are emotionally exhausted.
Because functioning and coping aren’t always the same as healing.
Sometimes people become very good at surviving while quietly struggling underneath it all.
That’s why emotional health isn’t only about whether you can keep going.
It’s also about:
• how you’re carrying life internally
• how much pressure you’re under
• and whether you’ve had space to process what you’re feeling
You don’t have to wait until everything falls apart before reaching out for support.

Mothers have a way of holding everything together - even on the days they feel held together by coffee, deep breaths, and pure determination.
To the moms who love endlessly, worry constantly, give selflessly, and somehow still show up with strength and care every day - thank you.
Today is for the quiet sacrifices, the unconditional support, the comforting hugs, the patience, the resilience, and all the little things that often go unseen.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, mother figures, and caregivers who make life feel a little safer, warmer, and more grounded.

Real change doesn’t come from being told what to do.
It comes from seeing something
you couldn’t see before.
Exploring the pattern.
Understanding the belief.
Gently challenging what no longer serves you.
That’s how movement happens.
Not forced.
Not rushed.
But real.
If this resonates, you don’t have to work it out alone.

Behind every repeated pattern,
there’s usually a belief.
“I’m not enough.”
“I have to cope on my own.”
“This is just who I am.”
These beliefs aren’t always obvious.
They often sit in the background —
quiet, but powerful.
Until something stops working.
And that’s when the deeper work begins.
Not fixing the behaviour…but understanding what’s driving it.

We often assume people know exactly what they’re doing.
But most patterns don’t feel like decisions.
They feel normal.
They’ve been repeated enough times
that they run automatically.
Not because someone wants to stay stuck…
but because they can’t yet see the pattern.
That’s where change begins.
Not with pressure.
But with awareness.

You can remove the behavior… and still feel the same.
That’s the part people don’t expect.
Because what the behavior was trying to manage is still there:
The tension.
The noise.
The disconnection.
So the system searches again.
Not because you’re weak.
Not because you lack discipline.
Because you’re trying to regulate.
Real change isn’t just about stopping.
It’s about understanding
What you needed in the first place.
And that’s where things begin to shift:
Speaking. Reaching out.
Letting someone in.
You’re not broken. You’re responding.

Addiction isn’t about what you use.
It’s about what it does.
When something creates relief — even briefly —your system remembers.
• Alcohol takes the edge off
• Food numbs
• Scrolling distracts
• Drugs create distance
Not because they’re the goal…
But because they change how you feel.
The loop pauses.
The noise quiets.
The pressure drops.
And for a moment… You can breathe again.
That’s not failure.
That’s your system doing its best
with what it has.

Most people misunderstand addiction.
They think it’s random.
They think it’s a lack of control.
It’s not.
It’s a response.
It starts beneath the surface:
• A body that won’t settle
• A mind that won’t switch off
• A constant sense that something isn’t right
And that pressure doesn’t stay still.
It builds.
So the system looks for relief.
Not tomorrow.
Not eventually.
Now.
Like releasing steam before it explodes.
👉 Tomorrow I’ll show you why the behavior itself isn’t the real problem.
