My body, my home, and my heart’s busy growing our newest little person, and right now that deserves my full focus. Teaching is my passion and I’ll always show up 110% for my learners — which means stepping back when I know it’s needed.

I’ll let you know when classes open again, but for now, I’m resting, nesting and letting life do its beautiful, messy, miraculous thing.

✨ Why is phonics so important for reading success? ✨

Phonics is the foundation of reading. 🧩 When children understand how letters and sounds connect, they can decode words, build fluency, and unlock the joy of independent reading.

Without phonics, many kids rely on guessing words from pictures or memory. This works for a while, but it won’t carry them far. 🚫 Strong readers need the tools to break down any word they see – and that’s exactly what phonics gives them.

🌱 Think of phonics as the “keys” that open the door to language. Once a child has those keys, they can explore stories, knowledge, and imagination without limits.

At Kieka’s Class, I make sure children don’t just memorize words — they understand how to read them. Because when a child can read with confidence, the whole world opens up. 🌍💡

At Kieka’s Class, I truly believe that the Foundation Phase (Grade R–3) is the most important stage in a child’s life. These early years are where we lay the building blocks for every skill your child will need in school… and in life.

✨ When we get the foundations right, we build confident, capable, and resilient learners.
✨ But if the foundation is shaky, everything built on top struggles — especially when it comes to reading.

Reading is the middle point of education. Without the ability to read confidently, children often find every other subject harder to grasp. That’s why I’m so passionate about making reading accessible, joyful and exciting for every child.

To help every learner thrive, I offer 60-minute reading assistance sessions for Foundation Phase learners (Grade R–3).
