Overall Project Goal: Establishment of a Fuchs Regional Disability Resource Centre (FRDRC) on the University of Johannesburg (U
Measurable Outcomes:
• Establishment of the of the FRDRC on the UJ Soweto Campus
• Assistive devices and software in the FRDRC for use by Learners with Disabilities in the Soweto Community.
• Access to multiple adaptive assistive technologies that promote academic independence for students and learners.
• To promote access to academic content through the Access Text Network South Africa – ACTNSA initiative.
• To promote the study of science related courses for the visually impaired students and learners through the Mathematics access programme.
• To provide the surrounding special schools in the greater Soweto as well as Gauteng to access to a resource centre that caters for various disabilities.
