Yesterday was more than a staff function — it was a moment we genuinely needed. 💛
This term has asked a lot of us. It has been busy, demanding and, at times, emotionally heavy. With everything happening around us in South Africa, it is easy to keep going from one responsibility to the next without realising just how much we are carrying.
So yesterday, we allowed ourselves to put the work down for a little while.
We laughed. We explored. We sat in the sun. We enjoyed our beautiful city. We spoke about things that had nothing to do with deadlines, classrooms or the next task waiting for us. And somewhere between the bus rides, the views and the laughter, we were reminded that the people who spend their days caring for others also need moments where they can simply breathe. 🚌☀️
Our staff give so much of themselves every single day, often in ways that are never seen. Yesterday was about appreciating that, reconnecting as a team and making space for joy after a difficult and incredibly busy term.
Sometimes rest is not a luxury. Sometimes a few hours of laughter, connection and lightness are exactly what you need to gather yourself again.
We worked hard. We carried a lot. Yesterday, we got to exhale. And we deserved every moment of it. 💙💛✨
