How to keep pasta from sticking:
Don't bother adding oil to the water when boiling pasta: the oil just drifts to the top and gets thrown away. If you are serving your pasta separately, rather drizzle the pasta with some olive oil after you have drained it, and give it a good shake to spread it over all the pasta. This ensures a thin layer of oil on your pasta that will keep it from sticking together.

Just had to share: I discovered such a gorgeous meringue icing recipe over the holidays. Looking how gorgeously it can be 'highlighted' with a blowtorch!

Meals in minutes:
Any true South African loves potatoes and a good piece of sausage! Tonight I jazzed up my normal tomato & onion relish by adding portabellini mushrooms, baby marrows, oregano and some grated parmesan. I cut pre-cooked potatoes and brushed them with rosemary & garlic butter, but you could even serve your sausage and relish with some chunky toasted ciabatta to give it even more of an Italian feel...

Meals in minutes:

Smoked salmon & scrambled egg tortilla with dill and peppadews.
Remember to only add your salmon right at the end of the scramble process, or keep it raw. This could be great as a protein-packed dinner or breakfast even.
Enjoy!

ENTERTAINMENT TIP:
Never underestimate how small things can take a dish from ordinary to extraordinary. How about adding some olives or bacon to your roast veg?

HOW TO:
Lessen you time washing dishes by lining trays with baking paper when you are roasting vegetables. No scrubbing needed.

Food Fact:
What is confectioners sugar, and what is the South African equivalent?

Confectioners sugar is a powdered sugar that is mainly used in baking and making sweets, because of the smooth finish it gives. Mostly it refers to what we call Icing sugar in South Africa, however confectioners sugar can be found in different degrees of fineness, so sometimes what is sold in other countries as confectioners sugar will be less fine than what we buy labeled as icing sugar.
