Somerset West Private School is incredibly proud to congratulate Benjamin Greeff on qualifying for Round 3 of the prestigious UCT Mathematics Olympiad!
This outstanding achievement places Benjamin amongst a select group of learners who have successfully progressed through multiple rounds of one of South Africa's most challenging and respected mathematics competitions. The UCT Mathematics Olympiad is designed to identify and encourage exceptional mathematical talent, requiring participants to demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, perseverance, and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
After successfully completing the earlier rounds of the competition, Benjamin has earned his place in Round 3, which will take place on Saturday, 20 June 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00 at the University of Cape Town.

ποΈββοΈ Congratulations to Zoe Arendse (Gr 9) on an outstanding performance at the 2026 WP Nomads Junior Girls Championship!
Competing in the highly competitive Silver Division, Zoe finished as Runner-Up, missing out on the title by just a single stroke. She also claimed the Best Nett award, highlighting both her consistency and exceptional golfing ability throughout the tournament.

π¬π§ͺ SWPS Learners Shine at the Eskom Expo Science Project Feedback Session! π§ͺπ¬
On Friday, 29 May 2026, a group of our talented learners attended the Eskom Expo Science Project Feedback Session at HoΓ«r Meisieskool Bloemhof in Stellenbosch.
The session provided an excellent opportunity for learners to present their projects to experienced judges and receive valuable feedback on how to strengthen and refine their work ahead of the Regional Eskom Expo in August. Each project was assessed by two judges, with learners benefiting from constructive suggestions and expert guidance.

On Thursday, 14 May 2026, twelve of our learners proudly represented our school in the second round of the South African Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO).

On 6 May 2026, our learners took part in the first round of the Proverto National Olympiad, competing in Accounting and Business Studies.
The Proverto National Olympiad is a prestigious academic competition that encourages learners across South Africa to apply their knowledge, think critically, and solve real-world subject-based problems beyond the classroom curriculum. It provides learners with the opportunity to challenge themselves academically while developing analytical and problem-solving skills.
We are incredibly proud of our learners for stepping up and embracing this challenge with enthusiasm and determination.
