These students have been invited to the official awards ceremony on 29 July 2026 to receive their well-deserved honors.

ACROBATICS ACHIEVEMENT
Congratulations to Tshedza Makumbane (Grade 1) on her outstanding achievement in acrobatics!
Tshedza recently competed at the Provincial Championships, where she delivered exceptional performances, securing 3rd place on one day and 1st place on the other. These excellent results have earned her qualification for the National Championships, which will take place in Gauteng later this month.
We are incredibly proud of Tshedza's hard work, dedication, and success, and we wish her all the very best as she prepares to compete on the national stage.

ROYAL TEA PARTY
Throughout the term, the Grade R students have been learning about the world around them, travelling across every continent and exploring different countries, cultures, and landmarks. Their final destination brought them to England in Europe, where they concluded their journey with a Royal Tea Party at Buckingham Palace.
The children transformed into royalty for the day as they gathered for a delightful afternoon tea. They were served warm tea and delicious scones, and thanks to their lessons on afternoon tea etiquette, they knew exactly how to behave like young royals, right down to stirring their tea correctly!

ROWING - NEW BOATS UNVEILED
The Somerset College Rowing Club proudly celebrated the arrival and official unveiling of three new racing boats on Friday, June 6, marking an exciting milestone for the programme as preparations begin for the upcoming rowing season.
The new boats were imported from Sykes Rowing in Australia and include:
Lightweight Bow Coxed Four/Quad
Midweight Bow Coxed Four/Quad
Hudson Eight (8+)
These additions will significantly enhance the club's fleet and provide more opportunities for athletes to train and compete at the highest level.
The boat reveal was attended by our new Head Coach, Mr Ashley Zeelie, making the occasion even more special as he joins the Somerset College rowing community ahead of the new season. Also in attendance were our rowing captains, Mr Jakes Nel, Mr Langman, Old Oaks, rowers from across the age groups and supportive parents who gathered to celebrate this exciting development.
As pre-season training approaches, the club is excited to see these new boats on the water and to continue building on its tradition of excellence. A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to making this investment possible. We look forward to an exciting season ahead.
