31 DAYS OF SOMCOL WOMEN
Julia Xelelo, a valued member of our Boarding Support Staff, encourages young women to have confidence in their own growth and to embrace the journey of becoming the best version of themselves. She reminds young women to be confident in supporting and uplifting others, while always recognising their own worth and being proud of how far they have come.

THINKLAB
We are excited to announce that our first cohort of ThinkLab students graduated on Monday, 17 August.
Over three months, students undertook rigorous research training with Professor Ruth Albertyn, developed original campus-based research questions, passed an ethical review committee, and produced original research papers under the guidance of supervisors; all alongside their academic and sporting commitments.
Congratulations to every student on this remarkable achievement! Ancora Imparo.

31 DAYS OF SOMCOL WOMEN
Heather Good, Personal Assistant to Mr Tucker and a valued member of the school’s administration team, reminds young women to stay strong and believe in themselves. Her advice is simple but powerful: never let anyone make you doubt your worth, your abilities or your potential. Believe in yourself, trust your journey and remember that you are capable of more than you may realise.

All the action and excitement!
31 DAYS OF SOMCOL WOMEN
Nokubonga Mpinga, a Biology teacher in the Senior School, shares an inspiring message with young women: they already have everything they need to succeed, carried forward through generations of strong women before them. She reminds us that today's girls are tomorrow's women and encourages them to recognise the power they hold while drawing strength and guidance from those who came before them as they navigate their journey of self-discovery.

FOUNDERS’ DAY
On Friday morning, we came together as a community to celebrate Founders’ Day and mark Somerset College’s 29th birthday. Our celebratory assembly in the Boonzaier Hall was a wonderful opportunity to honour the vision of our founders and reflect on the journey that has brought us to where we are today.
We were privileged to welcome Old Oak Marcus Nel (Class of 2016) as our guest speaker, with Mr Jacques Nel delivering the keynote address, Mr Ludwig van Coppenhagen reflecting on the past and Mr Kevin Harris extending a warm welcome to our guests and community. The audience was treated to a beautiful and entertaining programme adding to the spirit of celebration and reflection. The celebrations continued after the formal ceremony, with our Senior School students taking on the Werf Run and our Prep School students enjoying the Oakie Run.
Founders’ Day reminds us of where we come from, who we are, and the exciting journey still ahead. 29 Years of belonging, of becoming, and a future that goes beyond.
